It's better to be proactive about it and not assume the ears will stand on their own. Most of the time they will but if the ears aren't up at 8 weeks of age I too begin the training.

I think you're right Steve. Also, at this age he seems to have a hard time reaching his ear with a scratching hind leg... Which seems to keep the tape on longer, especially with us babysitting him and persuading him to leave the tape alone.
It's been a few days... So here is another heaping helping of Beef-Stoeger-Noff for everyone!!!
It's good to see that you are hardly enjoying this puppy AT ALL!!, are you...?. If those ears are still up tomorrow ill be amazed... ( unless you used superglue ) I think you need to rename him Stumbo!

I know that name sounds like gibberish, but trust me when I say the [FIRM] part has a lot of meaning for the stogesters dad and I!! And te rodeo clown seems more fitting everyday!
It sure will be interesting to get his official weight at the animal hospital Thursday morning.
He feels like a million pounds compared to the 4lbs baby we picked up at the beginning of August.
His diet so far has consisted of Victors Grain-Free kibble, NuVet Plus Supplement, Grizzly Salmon & Pollack Oil, raw ground beef, chicken, cottage cheese, cream cheese, apples, blueberries, cooked beef livers, mackerel and his new favorite... Fresh Green Beans from our garden!!!
Last unofficial weight was 10.5lbs at 9 weeks and he will be exactly 10 weeks on Thursday for his vet visit.
I just want to thank all the wonderful forum members who have enlightened Stoges_mom and I with nothing but the best information regarding the care of our little Bullie-Boy, you guys/gals ROCK!
Special thanks to Steve for sharing his knowledge and providing a great forum for all this info to flow freely, it's an unbelievably incredible service, THANK YOU!!!
Well you damn sure have him on a great diet. I'm sure he's gaining weight FAST! I bet he's bigger than all his siblings by now.
Thanks for the kind words and I made have put the forum together but it isn't mine - It's shared for us all. I enjoy reading everybody's threads and especially seeing photos. I can't wait to see Stoeger as an adult solid as a Rock!

It took us over an hour to only purchase a harness! Everyone had to pet and hold and pamper the little guy. The only problem came when he met a larger pit bull mix. He was a beautiful well behaved dog and Stoeger wanted to play..... His tail wagging feverishly he started barking and play growling but any growling I feel startles people. Not exactly sure how to deal with this as he gets so excited and wants all of every beings attention. He was only trying to play but I don't want people (or myself) to be worried. Do I pin when he play growls so he knows it unacceptable? He is very responsive and learns quickly.
Bullies don't enjoy having their teeth brushed or they feet fiddled with unless you make them accustomed to it from very young. You're saving the little ones when the fall out right?

When our last girly passed my wife built a shrine for her that has her ashes, her baby teeth, all her things in it, photos above it.... I've gotta take pictures and show you, we walk passed it and kiss her every day.

If nothing else I had to nab the 300th!!! comment on this string, gotta be a record. He is just a heart crusher isn't he!? In about a month or so he will start to develop a real emotional bond with you, which'll get deeper and deeper. Right now you are just playthings and providers (frankly). Tell me if you don't see this getting stronger all the time. He will start to communicate his affection for you in very meaningful & touching ways.... Then you'll start to really love him more.... (yeah, yeah, I know you think that's not possible).

P.S. good luck with the ears!
I think his ears will go up on their own but Stoges_mom wants them up now!
We had his ears taped for a few hours yesterday.
Even that short amount of training got them to stand up for a little while.
The pup had an upset stomach yesterday so we didn't re-tape after he kicked the head-gear off.
All good Sunday. Today he's had his ears taped for most of the day. After a nap he kicked one off.
Waiting for Stoges_mom to get home and give me a hand doing him up again.

Especially since he's bulking up even more, our little elephant!
Except for the nose, he's a dead ringer!
Hence his AKC name: Rodeo Clown FIRM Stoeger At Arms
And te rodeo clown seems more fitting everyday!
He goes in to the vet Thursday morning, I'll give you guys an update on his health and weight then.
Of course Stoeger had to go right out and play in the mud during his morning romp!
After a bath he decided to do some knitting...

He's been roaming the yard with us more with some Bullie-Runs and Hucklebutting as his only exercise right now.
I can hardly wait till we can venture further on walks, then hikes without his current mode of plopping down after a brief bout of energy exertion.
I could use the exercise myself!
He has the same look on his face as I do when I go shopping with Stoges_mom.
All you guys know what I'm talking about, that "I'd rather be chewing on a shoelace..." look
She texted me that she was bombarded by people wanting to pet Stoeger.
She could barely make her way to the cashier to check out, haha!
Just got this pic, he's all suited up in his new harness and out exploring the yard.
Oh yeah and yes his ears are still up!!! Must be the cottage cheese and gelatin
He was only trying to play but I don't want people (or myself) to be worried. Do I pin when he play growls so he knows it unacceptable? He is very responsive and learns quickly.

Anybody have suggestions where to purchase the Advantix?
Stoge was 11.4lbs Thursday at his vet visit. So we're looking for the 11-20lbs dose.
60 days worth should get us through fall and by the time I have to buy more he will be over 20lbs.
Stoge is looking forward to more to come in his thread.
He's a growing boy and it only seems right that his heart will grow too
Thanks to everyone on this forum that have contributed to this thread.
Without your guidance we'd be lost!!!
