It's easy to keep a young pup plump and healthy. However, from 6 -10 months of age you may find it a tad more difficult as their energy increases and they go through growth spurts. It's usually at this time they go through a bit of a lanky stage. I'm looking forward to seeing their progression and hope you continue to keep us updated.

Thank you for hav9ng ugh a nice forum
Of all the bull terrier ones I looked at I joined this one
Your dogs are beautiful
I'm very pleased with the progress of the pups so far and I believe they are going to be very good looking specimen
They look so happy and playful. Those two must be a handful at that age but what a lot of fun they are. Good to see you are allowing them to socialize with other dogs too.
You take great pictures. You need to come over here and photograph my bullies for me. )

If you get them on a part raw diet, part cooked meat and the rest kibble and supplements, and keep them active { that part seems a huge stretch by the looks of your postings ) .... they should end up around 70 lbs, imho.
In the beginning God created English Bull Terriers, in the image of EBT's, God created all other breeds.
Thanx, It's the Name Strips I am having a hard time finding... The ones you bought have great quality stitching, cloth and embroidery... The only ones I see have rough edges, jittery embroidery and plain fabric backgrounds.... nothing like those great ones you show.
I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this thread, and am looking forward to seeing how Max and Lady do in the woods. Down here in Alabama we do quite a bit of hunting: deer, hog, quail, dove, etc. Most of the dogs you see down here are hounds, labs, spaniels, and occasional terriers for catch dogs (hogs). Based on your pictures and videos and from what you've said so far I imagine your two bullies will be some of the best around in the woods. Cant wait until I see some poses of the dogs next to some downed hogs! Looking forward to more reading!

I don't think I'll be putting these guys on hogs in the near future
in my old age I worry to much
They might get some ground hogs
I have a bloody frozen piece of deer skin in the freezer and in the next few weeks I will start with some tracking
They are really making good woods dogs though and I'm happy
First... that's awesome, to see them on their first hunt... they seemed to have behaved admirably. TO say that a good upbringing has greater effect on canines than it does on humans is probably not PC... but it's probably true.. Second, I got my US Palm collars etc. will post photos soon. They are fantabulous. Thanx for all your help in that effort... I got the leashes too. (I apologize to all for being somewhat tardy on the site recently... I bombed out to Portugal for 10 days and had to work like the devil to make up before going and after returning.... I'll make up for it in coming weeks)

Thx Phil
I'm glad you like the collars
My guys are a bit small for theirs yet so they are still wearing their puppy collars
He's in great shape... I know he wouldn't appreciate the comment... but he's looking like a Russian ballet star.... oh, and Little Lady has a very special soul, you'll see when she gets about 2 years old, her character will become really different to Max's... and you'll find it hard to work out which one you love more... because it's such a different relationship.... Tell me if I'm wrong....

She is a wicked little watch dog and has no quite but it's funny if I even remotely offend her she shows great offense and will not forgive me till I say I'm sorry
Both wonderful but believe me she starts all the arguments
That was a great video! They've come along way and are doing excellent in growth, training, and intelligence. You are to be commended for all your efforts with them. During the puppy and adolescent stages they can be very difficult to train but you certainly did a fantastic job with them both.
- Steve Gogulski "It's not just a Dog, it's a Bull Terrier!" www.bulliesofnc.com
I'm rather surprised at how intelligent they are and how they respond to training. I've heard they can be difficult at times
They are hard headed but to me that is what makes a great animal
The breeder had reservations on me taking two but I assured him I had a lot of expierence with some very hard dogs
I've kept as many as 4 Rotts back when they were worth their salt and my Dogo's were a lot of fun .... as in trying my patience but oh so rewarding
These bullies picked up the leash work very quickly and I only really started working them a few weeks ago
They understand what I want and just have to be properly motivated
Motivation is done with praise and treats
A hard hand would surely shut them down especially the female .... she is very tough in one way as in gamey but oh so sensitive
If you even scold her she gets very upset
So as I said absolutely no heavy hand
The most important thing to me is that I can control them off lead
Being in the woods and outside my house while I'm working outside etc is very important for us
I live in the woods and being outside and watching them track and work the wind and just be my companions is what I do with all my dogs
When they were very small they naturally followed me everywhere
They were taught two basic commands at first
First ...whoa or ease up .... this of course is to slow them down when they are getting to far out and I need them to wait up or stop but not recall
Any field dog I have needs to learn this
Any dog will hunt and they need to learn they are hunting for you not themselves this comes in time so slowing them down or stopping them is critical
The most important command for me is come (recall)
I need to be able to recall them
For so many reasons but mostly for their safety
When they were small they would come and were showered with praise and it was made into the greatest event ever
At about 5 months they showed their bullieness
They would come when they felt like it
This is when I introduced them to the e collars
Here is where they amazed me
We started out one at a time and the only time I use an e collar in stim mode in obedience work is the recall command NOTHING ELSE EVER
so in about a 1/2 hours time we made the transition from a long line to the tone button on their collar
A simple come and a leash pop from the longline was replaced with a beeping
They each responded instantly to the tone and seemed to instantly understand the correlation with the beep and what I wanted
I was amazed
A dog must know the command with out a doubt before ever using an e collar
Till this day I've only had to use the stim function in a limited capacity and than only on a very light setting
With in one session done individually they picked it up and we are back in the woods off leash chasing and exploring
My deer season is over so I do a lot of scouting for the next season this time of year and we are enjoying the woods daily
We do at least a couple of miles off leash daily and have been since they were 10 weeks old
Every few days we take a rest day and those are the days we do light leash work
Only about 10 minutes or so a session
I'm sure as they mature they will test things but I'm very impressed
They have responded better than almost any dogs I've trained
They are hard headed but know exactly what you want praise is the key with the occasional treat
What I am most surprised about is their field ability
They are very keen on using their noses and working scents
Either in the air currents or on the ground
I'm anxious to see where we can take their hunting skills and I'm thinking of also putting them on birds
My Dogo's were excellent on birds and picked it up quickly and even made it on tv on a hunting show
We were at a very beautiful Bird farm working a sorgum field when I was approached by the owner
He said there is a guy here filming a Hunting show for tv and he saw your big white Dogo from up on the ridge and asked the farm owner what the hell kinda dog I was using
The owner said that's my buddies hog dog jack and he was awesome
The guy asked me if he could film him and I kindly obliged
My Dogo's where the only DOGOS I've EVER SEEN BIRD HUNT
These bullies have big shoes to fill but I have high hopes
Comments
Thank you ....for them
I am always amazed at how when feed well a puppy can grow like a weed
I'm a firm believer in letting them be quite fat till about 16 weeks just in case something gets ahold of them parvovirus etc
Than about 16 weeks I like to see them start to lean up a tad and to put on weight slow and consistent
Puppies that grow to quick in my experience suffer joint problems and splayed feet etc later on in life
It amazes me how females at this early age are so much more coordinated than the males
She prancies and puts her feet down in beautiful short uniform strokes while Max runs like a gorilla trying to cover ground
She flies up and down stairs and he does them like a drunk silverback
She can jump and land the opposite direction over and over again like a cat and he just hops straight up and lands on his arse
He's a typical big boned monkey. I'm sure he will gain coordination and be more graceful in time
He's a freight train
Here they are playing with a beautiful Wheaton Terrier at a place near my house
It's an old mansion on an estate that is a bird sanctuary
Really cool place
In stalk mode

They are getting big
Coming out of their puppy collars and into the next size
They are inexpensive working collars I got here
Name patches are separate
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DNX5QMC/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
But these are the collars I have on order and as soon as these guys are big enough to wear these collars from U.S. Palm THEY will be wearing these
They came in today and my guys will be in them soon
They are adjustable and actually will fit them right now but 1.75 wide is a bit wide for pups
I got mine from Amazon
But you can also get them directly thru US Palm
I also ordered the ID pouch that fits in between the layers of the collar and had custom tags made
Here is one I got or my Buddies Staffy
Here are the tags I had made for mine
Reverse side
I found the collars on Amazon but not the ID pouches
I got them straight from US Palm
The collars are the same on Amazon as us palm
The Velcro name patches and the aluminum dog tags I got on Amazon
Let me know how ya make out
I did black for max and coyote brown for lady to match her brindle eye and ear
Phil
