hey boyda, soapskid, and Diane I am in bay area too. Have an 8 week female been looking for other EBT owners and groups too to expose mine to other dogs and bullies. I am in Hayward
@danielp - I'm out here in San Jose so not too far from you. We have a few more on here and when the weather gets better we can maybe do a bully meet up.
Yea san Jose (and san Lorenzo) are right around the corner. My brother lives in san Jose. That'd be cool to meet other BTs and owners. Thanks her name is Khaleesi. How many BT do you have?
I got one, Spud. He's a pet only and will probably my only bully for now. The weathers been bad the last week and it will carry over to next weeks massive storm here in the bay area. I'd like to see if we can all do a quick meet at one of the popular dog parks in the area.
The park I frequent has no BT's but 99% of the owners are really good since I go in the mornings and see the regulars. I'd suggest you try and get Khaleesi socialized early and can help with that with Spud. He's a year old and good around all types of pets. We have cats, chickens and other small animals that Spud plays with and not aggressively at all. He even tries to help the little toy chihuahuas across the street sometimes.
But this was a lot of work. Initially when Spud was a puppy he played rough. He didn't start playing friendly until about 8-9 months. Don't give up though cuz she's the one who will be apart of your family forever.
Yea we a small affenpinscher, and sometimes she likes to bite to hard and play rougher than should. I dont want her to develop that habit because in another 2 weeks she will be bigger than the affe. any tips to assure of that, of course keeping her socialized with other animals too. thatd be great to take her to a dog park. any recommendations?
I waited to go the dog park until he hit last set of shots but in the mean time I had enrolled in a 6 week puppy socialization and obedience class when I got him at 10-12 weeks. I also was attending a Saturday puppy socials at the daycare near my house for $5 and did this for about 6 weeks as well.
We then moved to an adult class after Spud passed his puppy class. At about this time he was 4 1/5 months and it was dog park everyday.
I think since you have a dog it's just going to take time and lots of supervision. Just a suggestion when I went looking for more puppy socials to attend based on cost there were many around the bay even out where you are in the eastbay.
Also, try hiking Mission Peak out in Fremont. I got to do the hike with Spud when he turned 7 months and we made it to the top. Find ways to bond. I think you mentioned running with Khaleesi. With Spud he just turned a year old so it's 1-2 mile runs until summer when he's near fully developed and may go out on longer runs.
I love Mission Peak, but hate the parking...... Here's a couple pics of Cookie on top, I don't take JB as she's a bit older and Taco's to young at the moment. Great spot for a dog walk!
Definitely a great walk. I've done it many times with Spud and he'll be tired all day since its miles to the top. I may have posted these but this is with his friend Turbo midway to the top during a water break.
Awesome pictures! I love seeing all the photos taken during outings, events, and simple walks. However, I think we may need to start NEW DISCUSSIONS when we post them vice putting them on various discussions that were initiated under specific topics.
In truth, someone down the line may very well run a google search for "How Common is it to Inbreed" and what they'll find out from their research is what places to walk their dogs are in the California area. :P
A new discussion on "Enjoying California Life with a Bull Terrier" would most likely gain a lot of traffic as it's apparent many are from that area and may wish to continue this popular topic. (Just an idea) :-??

Tried uploading a video but Summer weather is here and Spud has been staying out in the yard throughout the day. Luckily we have cameras all around the house and I can watch him while I do work in the room but there's family work the garage to check on him.
Spud does this almost everyday and he's waiting for the cat to wake up and play while eating grass.
Boyda, how long have you had your white BT? We saw 1yr old male that looks exactly like yours at the Hayward shelter. We were going to adopt him but our landlord didn't allow to make a 3lb exception. Our weight limit is 35lbs, and he weighed 38lbs.
I've had my white male since October, but he didn't come from the shelter. Do you know if he was adopted? Is your girl a mini or standard, cause I think she's quickly outgrow the 35lb limit.
I don't believe so, he should still be there. When we were going to get him, they had a $20 special on dogs that weekend! But still even for $125, it's a good deal to get him out. He was nothing but rock solid muscle. I've never seen a dog with that much muscle definition. I think mine is standard but small, parents we small, would say smaller than the male I saw at the shelter.
Yea his shoulders and back/front legs were very muscular and defined, can see the layers of muscle. He had a pretty thick neck too, he was short though. And Boyda, they didn't have a pic online (checked about 2weeks ago). But even when I found him, didn't know he was there since no photo was online. I went on a Saturday afternoon, about 3pm.
I'll swing by tomorrow and see if he's still there, hopefully someone adopted him, if not I'll try to forward him on to the rescue. Nothing worse then a bully behind bars!
Right now he is a little past 13 months. I'm taking it easy right now by doing 1-2 laps around the block about maybe 120 yards each lap. Probably will do this a few more times and see how his energy levels are.
Boyda, this is the opposite of California life with a BT, but I saw this picture on an online NOLA site and thought of you. He's either wanting a hug or looking for someone to pinch.

Also, cute little one, what's his/her name?
