Early morning cuddles before work!

Now that she's house trained she gets to sleep with mommy sometimes :) It makes me as happy as it makes her. Love waking up with this pretty gal cuddled up next to me!

In the beginning I never knew either, but after 35 years of always having Bullies in the house, one thing we learn is that they have excellent memories.... And always hold onto bad habits... It's all a matter of eliminating bad habits. If you let her sleep with you when she's young, she'll always want to do it, and will always jump on the bed. Which may sound cute now, but when she's 60 lbs, and has jerky dreams at night, and tosses and turns, you'll be tearing your lovely hair out and screaming " let me get some sleep"... Best, if she doesn't have a crate already, get one, and if you want her in the bedroom, get her a bed next to yours, and make her sleep there from the start... Similarly, if she table surfs, stop that, you don't want a 60 lb steak grabber when you have your boyfriend over for a candlelit dinner!!!
In the beginning God created English Bull Terriers, in the image of EBT's, God created all other breeds.
  • Mine sleep with me once in a while too!!! I just gate off the hall when the company isn't wanted, however phil is right because by chance if the gate is left open I end up spooning my brutus or cleo bouncing off the side of the bed going come on I know your up their and I'm cuddly and cute:) bad habit but well I don't mind the occasionally disrupted sleep!!! Up to you!! She's so sweet I wouldn't be able to resist :D now the table surfing is another story theirs a picture of brutus on here being naughty...... >:P
Your actions speak so loudly I cannot hear your words.
  • Oh she has a crate and only sleeps with me once or twice a week. And that JUST started a month or so ago because she hasn't been having any accidents and doesn't pee on the floor as soon as I let her out of her crate in the morning. She loves her crate because she's been in it since day one. Never barks or whines. All I say is "in your crate" and she goes straight in it and lays down. Trust me, she's not running amuck around here haha. I usually work 7 days a week and she's not alone all that time because my sister is a professor at Hopkins and only teaches 2 days a week. I just like to spend a little extra time with her at night sometimes :).
  • As far as table surfing goes- I had fully broken her if that at the old place and now she is testing her boundaries at the new place and starting to learn what's acceptable. I snap in her ear and say dawn and she jumps right down but we need to get back to the point where she's not jumping up in the first place.

Terrific!  Looks like you've got her handled as well as she's got you handled!! That some pretty impressive obedience
    :))

  • Well that's one of the few things I've got fully handled as far as obedience goes haha. We are both learning together. I
Already knew how to train a dog, but a bull terrier is not a dog! After 35 years with them I'm sure ill be asking for your expertise soon enough!
  • Spud slept on the foot of my bed the first two weeks no problems. After that it became crate and he's been happy there since. When he's tired he just brings a toy with him and sleeps next to it.
