sophie went crazy

Hi every one just a quick question today I was out with the dogs they was over the fields  sophie was on the lead and zeus wasnt a girl walked past zeus with her staffy it was on a lead and it lunged at zeus to attack him I told zeus away and he ran off but sophie went mad she was going crazy wanting to get to it her ears were layed flat back on her head she was rearing up on her back legs grawling and barking I dont know if this was fear or protection of zeus your thoughts please .

I'd think Sophie was trying to protect her "daddy" because she sensed that the ugly Staffie didn't have a friendly spirit toward him. I know Zeus probably doesn't need a lead but, for Sophie's sake, its probably better to keep him on one when they are out together ... If he runs off in situations like that she could suddenly take off after him. I'd still control Sophie and ensure she didn't mimic "nasty"'s behaviour.. And try and keep them altogether away from people who don't know how to bring up their animals to be nice. At her age, particularly when she is tethered, she will tend to go crazy at the end of a lead when she senses confrontation... I hope you found a nice dog for her to interact with as quick as you could thereafter.... So that memory didn't linger.

Thanks Phil I will take note of your comment sadly there was no other dogs about for her to play with I did correct her as well as it was unwanted behaviour that I do not want happening. Zeus is like what ever and sod u 2 it could have been a lot different if zeus didnt have such a good nature . But hes such a good boy bless him I can hear him snoreing down stairs all tucked up on the sofa lol
