How old is she? For many dogs it takes a little time for them to get used to eating raw meats and even cooked meats. It's natural for her to have loose stool after eating meats if her digestive system isn't used to that kind of diet. If you plan on adding meats into her diet start her off on it slowly and give it some time for her digestive system to get used to it. If she's young (under 12 months old) I'd expect the squirts from any form of meat if she's been raised on kibble and her digestive system is still developing.

Try cooking the Moose meat and adding small amounts to her normal diet. Once you know she's doing fine on it start adding a little more meat and a little lessed cooked. In due time her system should be fine with eating meats and the 100mph squirts will subside. :D

  • She is seven months and was on only kibble until a few months ago I started her on a little cooked meat here and there chicken beef ect. and never had a problem with the squirts but the moose does it everytime which sucks because we have a nearly unlimted supply for her and ourselves..yuuum haha I think I will just give her a treat sized pieces every now and again and try to get her used to it before I let her go to town on a full meal of it (cause she wolfs it down and it flows out like a river lol)

I think it's because she is sensitive to eating something she shares a name with ( see Bullwinkle below)., :D
No, seriously, I think it's just the rate of change from her regular, and the volume. My 5 month kids are having raw duck and venison, but I intro'd it slowly and it's only 20% of their mix.... So your idea of slowly weaning her onto it should work... What does Bullwinkle taste like anyhow?

  • are you just giving the meat or is it organ meat too? organ meat really causes diarrhea. dont do organ meat but just do regular meat and in small portions.
  • I have eaten moose before-its VERY rich red meat.

sounds like she has a sensative tummy.

Many times people move to quickly introducing new meats which causes the runs.

move back and go more slowly. with my boy Cesar, it took about 3 months before he could handle beef without getting the runs, he also had a pretty sensative tummy as well.

take a step back and go with the chicken, turkey, pork for the next month, then SLOWLY move into beef into small amounts. when your pup can eat an entire meal of beef, rotate between just beef, chicken, turkey and pork for 2 months (along with the organ meats every other day) THEN slowly introduce moose meat along with say a heavy boned piece of chicken, like a wing.

Switching from kibble ot raw is a big change to the stomach, and it does take some time to have your dog totally transitioned to eating an all raw diet.

Cesars poop and diet had to be monitored very closely for the first YEAR, that means it was an entire year before his body was functioning well on an all raw diet.

Chimera i started at 9 weeks old and it only took 3 months to be totally transitioned.

  • and jsut to be clear-organs are a MUST in a raw diet, kidneys, livers ect, if you dont feed any organs your dog will be missing out on alot of much needed nutrition-HOWEVER, because organs are very rich in nutrition, they can cause tummy upsets if fed early on, so organ meats should not be introduced untill about 1-2 months after the dog is used to eating just raw meat.

  • I have been feeding her cooked meats only so far like a bit of boiled chicken or beef or pork along with her still mostly dry food diet with no problems the moose is human grade not organs my thinking was introducing cooked meats would be better than just going right to raw

Bullwinkle is NEARLY as old as me! ( He's 8 years shy) Trust me, you don't want to be eating anything that comes within 50 years of how old I am!

  • I have found that certain Bullies are very sensitive to high protein diets, They have lose stool and tend to go multiple times a day. I agree with Steve when you start a new food, go slow and mix more and more gradually in with there normal food. This tends to help them with the change.

Looks like we've all concluded on adding the meat slowly and introducing cooked meat initially. :-B
