In heat

Again, that time of the year. Blood everywhere. I bought diapers for dogs, and she took them out in like 10 minutes. Found the perfect solution. We put her diapers and then put an old cut short. Now it's difficult for her to take them out. It's only the 8th day of her heat cycle, so few more weeks.

There's a special corner table in heaven where the parents of " heat " Bullies get an extra yoghurt treat every morning, one for every heat cycle they've been through.... sorry, but that's the only reward for extreme patience (besides getting there in the first place)

  • What kind of doggy diapers did you try? I found some on Amazon that work like a charm! Everything else, she has been able to get out of.

Neat! We've used such solutions too in the past. Our last EBT was not only dealing with heat cycles, but also furuncles in her anal area. So she had to wear such things a lot. One time she spent an entire night standing, protesting the pants we put on her.

Djamila - our current EBT - hates diapers. And we remembered the former "pantie protest". So, I looked around for alternatives. I was almost ready to design something myself when I stumbled over this after-surgery-recovery-suit.
I am sticking inlays in there, which I cut out of potty pads.
This solution works perfectly for us! It does not bother Djamila at all and she does not lose one drop of blood in the house. The suit sits so tight that I can even still let her sleep on the couch and in our bed.
I love that suit! It's a bit pricey but worth every penny for us.

  • I used femanine pads.
If she tries to mess with it I just told her "no", she eventually quit trying

  • Thanks for the info. Unfortunately, I have limited options for doggy diapers here in my country, and the shipping cost from amazon is expensive to send the orders to Peru, so she's using some Trixie diapers, which are plain white disposable diapers, which have 0 tolerance to an active 28 kilos bull terrier. who likes to take sunbathes and roll in the dirt.

I'm going to travel to the USA in August for vacations and I'm planning to buy stuff for Trica. So diapers are one of the items I'll bring back, along with Kongs, they're cheaper there. That after-surgery recovery seems really interesting, I think I'll try that.

Day 8 out of twenty-something, still surviving... and her appetite has increased a lot.

How good is your sewing? Many years ago, before "specialized dog apparel" ... my wife use to take a regular kids panties or swim pants and modify them by cutting tail holes and tailoring the shape... took a little time but worked like a charm.

If you really consider buying the after-surgery-suit, just another tip:
Be careful with the sizing. My girl is about 50lbs and I bought a size large for her - was afraid, medium could be too small. Luckily, I was able to adjust the suit. But if I would buy another one of those suits - which I am contemplating in order to have a spare when one is in the laundry - I would order a size medium this time. The fabric is very stretchy and medium should be a perfect fit for a 50lb EBT - without any alterations. Just to let you know.

I can literally see Isa running around in kid's pants. SWEEEET! But I think those would no longer fit today, would they? Your two guys are so huge - and so gorgeous!

@Djammy Actually it was Donna who used to have the Seasonal Pants made... Here are some photos of her from Christmas 2001.  They worked really well.. she never took them off. (Had the self adhesive little pads in them)imageimage
