Allergies

Banks recently started breaking out with bumps and shedding excessively. Took her to the vet they did a skin scrape and negative for mange. Only leaves allergies vet said to take her off supplements and salmon oil. She got prescribed Apoquel 16mg. I can't get a good pic of the bumps so I will just post an updated pic. She's 8 months weighting in at 47lbd. If anyone has some advice please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Could be 8 months of her body not working too well with the food she has been on.... need to give us the details on that... I've never been a fan of Salmon Oil, Coconut Oil better i.m.h.o.  The first 6 months she is living off "good parents"... Tell us everything she gets to consume, including treats and extras.

In the beginning God created English Bull Terriers, in the image of EBT's, God created all other breeds.
  • She's has been on two different foods blue buffalo wilderness and victor ultra pro. Currently she eating wilderness and when training she gets all natural grain free treats. As well as, bully sticks she gets very excited every time.

Well those are good foods... (as long as GF versions), so let's talk medication.... is she on any heartworm or tick/flea stuff? Has she been spayed ? When? Etc... I would definitely try coconut oil and UltraCruz Skin and coat treats. ( she'll love those more than Bullie Sticks... if that's possible,

Absolutely floored your Vet said to take her off supplements and the salmon oil. The omegas in the salmon oil is so very beneficial for Bull Terriers. There was a recent discussion about this on our Facebook Group page in which MANY were commending the positive results of Grizzly Oil.

I've had rescued some Bull Terriers in some really bad shape in regard to skin allergies and I have yet to see any of them fail to showing positive and quick improvement after putting them on the right nutritional diet, plenty of exercise, and the proper supplement that boosts their immune system.

Now if you have an issue with fleas or fleas allergies no change in diet, supplements, or meds with solve the problem until you rid the fleas. Some Bull Terriers are far more reactive to fleas and even one or two fleas can cause a big problem if your EBT has allergic reactions to them.
