jumpy doggy

hey everybody im new to the form im the proud owner of a 6 month old bull terrier named moochie. she has been pretty easy to train for an EBT and knows many commands and is legit a great dog and i love her so much!! buuut she has a huge problem with jumping up on new humans she meets that come into the house and whatnot and ignores all commands i know she is just a puppy but would like to break her of this habit early and introduce her to new people and her be well behaved :) any suggestions or tips?

  • whats funny is all i can think about is the millions of times ive seen this on the dog whisperer. Hahah.

My best advice for this is to leash her when someone comes over, ask people to pay no attention to her at all and keep her on a short leash, when she pulls to get to the other people, give her a firm no and a snap of the leash. Have her lay down at your feet and when she is calm, have someone come over and calmly pet her. If she continues to jump tell her, 'no off' and pull her back and put her in a sit while they pet her.
  • ive done the leash thing and tried to distract her with treats and commands but she just dosent seem to calm down till she gets a chance to bounce on my guests lol ive been putting her in her crate until she calms down and can be introduced which is working better she just loves too meet new people :)

Just so's you don't feel alone, ALL bullies are like that, LOVE new people and are stubborn as heck to get to learn our stupid rules.

In the beginning God created English Bull Terriers, in the image of EBT's, God created all other breeds.
  • hahah yes they are quite rambunctious moochie is becoming a pretty good listener with me and the rest of the family aswell but when somebody new comes in its time to go CRAZY! hahah also she is the most gassy dog i have ever owned loves to stink out an entire room! lol

Yeah, you have to find out which food he's getting that creates the green clouds.... Takes a little time but our kids only fart if they grab a lizard, or deerpoop or something... Otherwise they are pretty odiferous-less
