Bronte the Bull Terrier

Hey guys! Really glad I found this place and have already enjoyed the discussions.
I'm brand new to the world of bull terriers and wanted to share some pics of my boy Bronte and see what you guys think :)
He is 10 weeks old and weighs about 13 pounds. When I got him he was a weird kinda yellowish color and had gashes on his nose where he had attempted to dig and chew through the fence his breeder had put the liter in and left them there; never letting them out.
After a good wash and a few days of running around and stuffing his face with protein packed food I think he is looking great

  • Sweet face! Glad you rescued him!
  • Those ears!!!! Enjoy getting to know your new wee man x
  • Haha yeah those ears are great arent they??? I'm very glad i found this little guy too! couldn't walk away from that place without taking him with me.
As far as I know, all his siblings have been picked up and taken to new and loving homes so i was happy to see that.

Looks like you Rescued him from the breeder! It's great to know he's in good hands now and you're providing him with some good nutrition. Put some bag balm on his cuts and scrapes and he'll be good as new in no time.
Welcome to the Forum and we look forward to seeing more photos of Bronte!

Welcome, so glad you've joined Bullie Club! Remember the first rule of Bullie Club is that you have got to love your Bullie as much as he grows to love you.... Which is quite hard to do actually! I hope you have him on grain free food... Glad he has a great home now, please post more photos/ stories

  • Yeah he is eating EVO turkey and chicken formula (grain free and potato free) he is loving it! I will continue to post updates on growth and share stories....he already has a nemesis that we will refer to simply as big red (my vacuum) he loves to show big red who is boss by attacking it relentlessly.

Anyway it is great to be here and even greater to have my first Bullie :)

Good job on the Grain free and potato free. Loving the fact that you're excited about what a big difference a Bullie makes in your life... So few people get it! Feel free to ask anything that we can help you with. Isabella hates big red, either attacks it or goes to the other side of the house when she hears it coming. Marco couldn't give a crap... you have to push him off his bed with it in order to vacuum underneath.

  • Yes i am quite thrilled about Bronte and the excitement he is already bringing to my life! was gonna post a vid of his big red attack but the site wont upload it.

I am already learning a ton by checking out the other posts and pics and such, right now im just working on figuring out his bloodline and other health related things so i can be sure to really take care of this guy.

here are a couple more pics of Bronte that show his size a little better, again I am thinking he looks pretty healthy (minus the nose scrapes) but if yall see something i dont then please let me know.  Thanks a ton!!

  • On Friday evening June 17, 2016, an amazing battle took place for ownership of a couch. The defending champ of the couch, Arris, weighed in at 65 pounds and had defended her title numerous times. The challenger, Bronte, weighed in at a mighty 16 pounds and had never before stepped on to the battlefield....the following pictures document a little bit of what happened during this fateful night.

1.) Bronte initiates the battle and makes his presence known!

2.) Bronte Takes a tumble, momentarily losing balance and nearly taking a fall of defeat.

3.) Bronte stands in victory and gives an epic staredown as if to say, "I am here to stay and I best not find you in my place ever again!!"

I don't think so... I think Arris was just being a lady and letting the little tyke feel like he had achieved something (temporarily!!)

  • Phil OF COURSE Arris was just being a lady....but Bronte does not need to know that!! I was just excited that he is starting to play more with Arris and gain some more confidence.

But i believe it is worth mentioning that as of this morning Bronte still had control of that couch! Poor guy has no idea that Arris is simply waiting patiently to take back what is hers.

  • Man that would be great wouldn't it ?! He has already gotten lots of compliments on his coat so I am pleased with that considering he was a dull yellow color when i got him.

Just wanna say thanks again to all who have given advice and comments! Love this place
  • For sure not only his name is cute. This handsome little rascal is going to steal hearts!  :))
  • Ha glad he is being well received !! Little man had his first pig ear last night and took his first drive this morning and he is a natural....felt so safe with him behind the wheel  :))

  • Ok guys Bronte is doing well, I did have another thread about some skin issues he was having but they are clearing right up and his coat looks better everyday! We went to the park today and he romped and ran harder than he ever has which leads me to believe he is getting healthier :)

I treated him to his first small turkey neck after he rested up and he was a big fan.

  • Hey guys! Bronte is doing great at 4 months and 28 pounds. You can just tell he is getting healthier as his eyes are brighter and he seems more alert and eager to play and learn.
These are some pics of bath time which always results in the stink eye vs post bath which always results in sitting politely waiting for his reward.

Just want to say thanks to all who have responded to any of my posts and offered advice or just to say something about EBT in general as I had very little knowledge. Love this group and the support from all these EBT lovers

His skin does still have some spots due to the skin issue he was having but his coat is getting fuller and looking very white nowadays

  • He is precious. ...rub a dub...time for a bath...he looks happy to be getting your love....he will return his love unconditionaly....he is a lucky baby to be yours.
  • Thanks Hope! I do love the little fella :)
  • Just wanted to say that I am extremely happy at how obvious it is that Bronte is getting healthier each day! His personality is developing and he is quite the clown (as I know most EBTs are) this is exciting simply because he acted so lethargic and aloof during the first few weeks I had him.
Now he is playing non stop every morning and evening with a simple nap in between destruction/play time. And he is such a loving companion!
This is a collage of him chewing happily on his first antler  (apparently that's the best position to chew), him attempting to hit the phone out of my hand as I take a pic, and then him promptly passing out on my shoulder.

Glad he is turning into such a beaut! It can take time to find out what exactly is triggering the skin issue.... Could be one ingredient that sets it off, Potato, Egg, Fish, Red meat... You just have to keep tweaking and monitoring results. We are at a stage now with these kids that they get NOTHING other than the foods that we know they work well on... No treats, chews, supplements, (that are outside their regular proven treats, chews and supplements) someone bought Marco a rawhide chew the other day and it's hard to deny well meaning people, but he threw up all day and had a couple of dime size breakouts on his thighs.

  • Hey thanks for the compliment @BulliesofNC
@philsergeant the vet actually confirmed that the spots were caused by demadectic mange:/ it spread rapidly due to weak immune system and skin was inflamed due to mild allergy. I have been treating him with ivermectin for a month now and have two months to go with .3 cc every morning per vets orders, and his skin is looking great except you can still see the patches because the hair is SLOWLY growing back in but hey I'll take it
    :D
  • Well Bronte is 11 months today and it's been one heck of a ride!! He weighs 56 pounds and is a force to be reckoned with.....he's a favorite at the vet and at this time his skin and coat is as healthy as its ever been.

Here is just a couple pics I snapped of him impatiently waiting for his afternoon snack
