Happy National Pet Day Today!

Happy National Pet Day today! My boy, Lui Kane is now 4 months and 15 days. I see pictures of all other bullies on here and few that are 4 months old as well, only my Lui Kane doesn't look quite as big as the rest, but rather on the small side. I was having problems with him gaining weight, he's on the Blue Buffalo Wilderness for puppies. He had a vet check last weekend and the vet assured us he's okay, other than a broken nail the vet had to clip short  X_X but he's doing better with his Epsom salt soak the vet recommended. Does any one recommend anything for a pup to gain weight? I cut back on store bought treats (the blue buffalo wilderness) because they gave him bad gas. Instead I cook skinless chicken breast and give him tiny pieces when awarding him. He sits, stays, and shakes his paw, lol  :P He's still very nippy, not so much with me or my daughter but with my husband, and son, I wonder why that is?  Fully potty trained, sleeps through the night, LOVES car rides and making trips to Tractor Supply, Loves to join in on our baseball practices, retrieves our balls for us....& sometimes even brings them back...  :)) and his baby teeth are loose! There I go rambling.... ;))

What a wonderful looking child he is..!!!. Glad he is bring you more joy (than he is tennis baseballs)..If you are really concerned about him not being bulky enough (I wouldn't, he looks great)... you could add some raw to his diet (slowly like all diet change) and a raw egg a couple of times a week is good.
In the beginning God created English Bull Terriers, in the image of EBT's, God created all other breeds.
  • He's gorgeous and perfect in my opinion! How much does he weigh?

  • He is beautiful, i want a house full of them but its not big enough so we will just stick to the one ha
  • Lui Kane visited the vet today! He had to take his 2nd months NexGard. He will be 5 months in 7 days. Today they weighed him at a whopping 24lbs. lol He's our little runt. He's narrow and lanky. He's being a picky eater, but I have started giving him a raw egg every couple of days, he realllllyyy loves that. He eats his apples and carrots and chicken for treats still. He still hasn't put on much weight, which crossing my fingers is normal??? Maybe he'll fill out all of a sudden? He has his last set of shots due this weekend, and he'll be getting another full vet check up to hopefully put my mind at ease about his weight. Other than that, he's a very happy pup who I think has seperation anxiety because I always have to be in his eyesight even when its breakfast, lunch and dinner, he won't eat unless I'm there with him lol. He never leaves my side. My hubby adopted him from a breeder that was moving out of the state. We never got to see mom or dad in person :( The pics below are from today. Our West Texas weather permitted me to grill some pork chops today \:D/ He absolutely hates cats so we have to keep him tied while we're in our yard because at 27 years old I just don't run as fast as when I was 18 to be able to catch him hahaha  :))

To me he looks like he could stay rather on the tinier and more athletic side when growing - something I personally really like in a Bull Terrier. But at his age that's only guessing. Our girl Djamila luckily also is a little more on the tinier side and very active.
I know that many people are looking for the more "filled" specimen.

We have discussed the following here a while ago already: Hubby and I have a theory of two different types within the Bull Terrier breed: One looking more filled and growing bigger and heavier - that's the Bull-type. And then there's the one that is a little more athletic and often not as heavy and big as the Bull-type. We call that the Terrier-type.

The Bull-type Bull Terriers often are a little more leaned back and unhurried, while the Terrier-type is pretty active and very hungry for exercise, adventure and diversion.

Judging just from the pictures to me he looks like he could fit our definition of the Terrier-type.
Again, just a lucky guess at that age. And those different types - all grey theories.
Anyway, he is super cute and looks like he knows how to keep you busy :)!
  • Oh yes, always busy LOL. He's our baby and we love him, I've only fostered 1 EBT before and he was very different size wise, this is our first, so I'm just checking in on how everyone else's BT are growing. For a minute I thought maybe we had a mini EBT, but you're right time will tell! For now we'll enjoy life and try to make it the best and healthiest for him! And lurk on all of the discussions here to help me along the way   :-bd
