Finally came through on my wifes lab top (couldn't edit or delete). Thrilled to find this EBT only forum, been reading up for days now, what a friendly and knowledgeable place !

My name is Mark and I'm in Toronto, Canada. We recently had to say good bye to our brindle Bully due to kidney failure, she owned us for ten years. She wasn't the first dog we had to part with but the first Bully and the biggest heart break !

After two days of grief I decided I couldn't go any longer without a Bully and the search was on (in spite of my feelings of guilt)  for a younger female. Found a young couple who where in way over their heads with Frankie a 19 month old Tri Colour 40lb girl with no papers and lots of baggage, she's been running amuck all her short life.

I'll focus on the good, Frankie is healthy, socialized, house broken, knows her name (when she feels like it) and adorable imho. Grade one started immediately, in five weeks we've mastered sit, leave it and um um (food). Down, off, no and come are like her name, when she feels like it.

Grade two is just around the corner, baby steps, we've even warmed up to her name. Great to be here, will post updates and pics soon.

Thanks for the warm welcome Philsargeant, Fullofbull, and Erikashea.

My text didn't come through again, trying via chrome now. The above pic is Frankie snoozing after demolishing her third large rope bone in five weeks. Extra large rope bone is next.

Edit, Success at last thanks to Chrome !

All good things come to those that wait.... and I am not talking about your perseverance to get your text to show up.... Frankie is the prize! I cannot imagine the idiots that gave her up, but you sure lucked out... With that school curriculum I am certain she will grow into the most loveable and well behaved kid! It's always a bit harder if the first parents didn't have a clue.  Now that you have got the hang of the software issue please post more stories and tons of photos.

  • Phil not only was her education neglected but she has a few scars and a bald spot the size of a quarter on the back of her neck from a ill fitted prong collar. The vet suspects the hair follicles where damaged over time and is doubtful the hair will grow back.

The food she was on was crap with "meal" behind every main ingredient and "chicken cartilage" half way into the ingredients list. I've been feeding her a prescription diet from the vet Hills D+D potato and duck formula for now. I'm reading up on nutrition and the food may change.

In the mean time she's gained four pounds in five weeks and her ribs are no longer visible. I've been feeding the prescribe amount for her weight and she's getting into shape with long walks and two kick ball sessions daily.

The first parents broke down and cried when I took her but ironically where very neglectful.

@Marx - It's great having you on the Forum. You must have been using an updated version of Windows Explorer which caused you some problems and prevented you from commenting on posts. Glad you got it all hashed out.

I love the markings on your Bullie!!

  • Thanks, I would have taken her no matter what markings she had but it's nice to have lucked out.

Been spending time on your site too, wish we had at  least one EBT breeder of your caliber here in Canada !

Canada needs a couple good breeders from what I understand. You'd be surprised how many people from Canada have contacted us in pursuit for a puppy. Over the past 3 years we have provided four puppies to families in Canada.

  • We have 3-4 reputable breeders in southern Ontario that have litters every spring and then that is it till next year/spring. It's surprising you don't have more Canadian business.

No shortage of back yard breeders unfortunately.
  • Sounds like Frankie is lucky to have you! Some people don't understand what it takes to raise a dog. Glad to hear Frankie is showing improvements. Also her markings are very interesting! She's got some of the best wingtipped eyeliner I've seen ;)
  • Thank you Quinn, and I'm lucky to have Frankie too. My daughter came over to meet Frankie on day one, fell in love with her and her "mascara eye" as she put it and wanted to give Frankie a bath immediately, lol. Of course my daughter had to give Frankie some street cred too.image

I love the caricature on Frankie's side... Looks like a cartoon character with a big nose, a tight mouth and a bow tie.... Marco has a similar one that we call "the seahorse" pretty amazing how often the markings follow similar contours

  • That is pretty amazing, never noticed the caricature till you brought it up.

    Marco's one handsome lad !
  • She is such a stunning little lady! Sounds like you are doing very well with her. glad she has made it to a good home that will provide her with everything she needs, even jewelery! =))
  • Frankie is coming along well, she really likes taking the high road so to speak and thank you for the kind words. She's put on four pounds in the seven and a half weeks we've had her, quality food really makes a difference.

    The jewelry was a one time thing, Much to my wife and daughters dismay I don't like playing dress up with Frankie. =;

  • Thanks pumagirl, Puma's quite the looker too, love the "spoiled" picture.

We have something in common, rescues that missed out on their early training.

Frankie is a handful but coming along, hows Puma doing ?
