raw diet

Hi everyone, this is Porkchop. I had tried every dog food I think made and he stayed sick. I was paying vet bills up to 500 dollars and he would stay sick. He was missing hair on the tale he has left and on his head. His ears were full of yeast and he had never had problems with his ears, but this started AFTER he was put on hills z/d. It was driving me crazy seeing him like that. So I found a raw diet on line called the yeast starvation diet. It says to feed it for six months before adding back items. Its 10 pounds of ground beef and 18 boiled eggs, shells and all, plus a vitamin and a oil like fish oil. I started him on it May 31 and I can not believe the difference. All his hair is back and you can see the yeast coming out of his nails. His ears are clear to. I had not been giving him the oil because he is allergic to salmon so I got him so fish oil that didn't have any in it and it started making him throw up again so I have stopped it. I know it will take awhile to get all the yeast out of his system but now after he eats its like he has acid reflux. He has been doing fine till i gave him that oil. So does anyone know what causes this and what can I do.

He looks wonderful now.  Give us a list of the GRAIN FREE foods you have already tried.  I know some people report success when using a full raw diet but I don't believe in it as a long term solution. There must be a quality GF food that he will tolerate .... You can try Coconut oil (Extra Virgin (Hard white)) one teaspoon in his food it will help with the yeast as will ACV (with Mother), another couple of teaspoons with his meal. How old is he? Is he getting any treats/ scraps besides his meals?

In the beginning God created English Bull Terriers, in the image of EBT's, God created all other breeds.
  • Hills Science Diet is a crap food, amazed that people can associate it with good "science" or "diet." Glad he's off it.

Many people feed strictly raw, it can be done. I haven't ever fed raw but there are tons of sites and guides out there that can help you with raw or BARF diets, as they are typically called. I wouldn't worry too much about Porkchop's intolerance to fish. I do not feed my dog fish as it makes her gassy and gives her loose stool. You just have to stay away from it. Before you give any more oil or start something like ACV, let his system settle down. You need to get him back to not any throwing up or any regurgitating. One thing you could do is get coconut oil as Phil said, but apply it straight to his skin, not as a treat. You can rub it on his paws and that will help with yeast there.
