I bet your BT does that too

I am always amazed when I find Djamila lying around in that odd and funny baby pose with her hind legs stretched out backwards. To me it looks uncomfortable, especially because Bull Terriers always come across a little stiff rather than slouchy and flexible like other breeds do. But she seems to be just fine with it. For quite a long time I thought this pose is "reserved" to Bull Terriers and puppies, because our former BT Fancy did that too. Quick research on Google - turns out BTs are actually not the only dogs doing it. Other breeds do it too.

However, to me it looks like this is a very strong trait in BTs - along with carpet surfing, sitting like cats, folding their heads and sticking their nose under their arms while sleeping, resting their head on the nose and of course the beloved hucklebutting und Bully runs - only to name a few.

In a way this is comforting to me, because I recognize a lot behaviors of our former BT Fancy in Djamila. Makes me feel like somehow Fancy never really left us completely, although Djamila and Fancy are also very different in many ways at the same time.

The quirky similarities in Bull Terriers - I find them all the time in photos and videos online - are amazing. They surely develop a little differently with every owner. But there seem to exist certain similarities that will always prevail. After all, their little quirks and and idiosyncrasies are what makes this breed so adorable. Don't you think?

As for the "baby pose" - I'm sure many of you have watched their Bullies do the same thing, don't they? :)

First Djammy, Djamila is looking totally absolutely fabulous, Great job!!! We all know it's hard work!!!!
Ive never know a Bullie that DIDN'T lie like this, it's their totally favourite pose.
In the beginning God created English Bull Terriers, in the image of EBT's, God created all other breeds.
  • Yeah, well, I think it was for the longest time that I thought my BT was doing something special. :):):)
    You just confirmed it.
Just this morning I watched the Bully run of a French Bull Terrier through a little ball pit. Really felt familiar.
    I wish I owned a ball pit. :)>- :)

Thanks for the nice words on her looks! You know I love your two cuties, too, and especially envy you for the texture of Marco’s coat.

I wish the fact that Djamila keeps me busy with play times in the pool and ball fetching would equally HELP ME to stay in such a great shape. She is SO energetic! But which BT isn't!
As for the good nutrition, we're both on the same page - eating the good stuff. :):)

When it comes to exercise - well, not so much. :)

But kidding aside, I'm really happy that she is doing so good. No health problems on the horizon.
And she keeps me going. That's a good thing.
She scared the hell out of me the other day, when she suddenly started to shiver and cry when I touched her hind legs and her tushie.
Turned out she has just arrived in her next heat cycle and seems to be a little moody during those special days this time … that happens ... women know. :)

Yeah! I've tried it... somehow it doesn't work out all that well for me.

In the beginning God created English Bull Terriers, in the image of EBT's, God created all other breeds.
  • Love when they drag themselves across the floor, so funny. That's how I can always tell Maya is awake in the morning, I hear her get out of her bed and do the little shuffle.
  • This is part of Quinn's morning routine. Slither out of bed with legs behind her, transition to floor in hallway, and carpet surf down the entire hall, all while moving head back and forth and grumbling about things. This is always a good opportunity for me to give her armpit or side of belly scratches. :)
  • Yeah, the "morning Bullie" does not have any feet to walk on. So crawling around like crazy is the only alternative :)
I wonder how they can stretch so heavily after sleeping without getting cramps. :):):)
  • Epic stretch this morning..

  • Hahahaha...........I just finished reading all this and I'm dying!!!! :))  Hannah does Exactly what Quinn does!!!  I thought this behavior was unique to Hannah........the dragging hind end thing after sleeping.  Its sooo hilarious, she cracks me up every time she does it.  She does not get up in the morning without dragging herself from the kitchen, through the dinning room and into living room.  Its a great way to wake up every morning........laughing at Hannahs antics!!!!!

This is her favorite position, legs out and crossed.  LOL
