Say hello to Abby.
When I was a kid I saw the old B&W version of the Amazing Journey. I don't know what it was about the Bull Terrier but I was intrigue by this breed I never actually saw. When I got older that interest in this curious dog endured. They were relatively small, compact, not to much to handle but yet still had a confident presense.
I went to see some Bullies in my mid 20s for the first time. I remember being taken back by how wide they were in full stride coming toward me. Not sure if I should run or what to brace myself for, only to be assualt with attention desiring, swarming attics.
It wasn't long after that that I joined the military, and deployed to Iraq twice. It was after my second deployment that my wife and I talked about getting a dog.
I admit I was a jerk...
I held out, I could have got a puppy and made everyone happy... But I can be stubborn, go figure..
When all of this talk was going on I had to go to the Vet to pick our cat and it just so happened that their was a couple in there with a little Bull Terrier puppy..
To me that was it, might as well had been a bolt of lighting that hit a burning bush in the shape of a bull terrier.
But things are never that simple and there was a lot of concern from family and friends about having such a dog with children.. And honestly I was really nervous.
So like any good soldier I made plans for the worst. I researched and took in everything I could on Bull Terriers.
And it was all a complete waste..
Not because I didn't learn a lot of valuable information. I became a subject matter expert on them... I'm that way love to learn.
It was a complete waste because none of it was any assistance with Abby.
For a long time I thought maybe there wasn't a drastic difference in abby and say your average Bull Terrier.. That was till I saw her with other Bull terriers and laughed at the attics that ensured.
Abby, nickname is Eeyore, and it's not without reason.
She is very terrier-like, very mellow and submissive with people with a face that looks as if any moment she might somberly mutter *sigh* "ok pooh"
I have attached some pictures and wonder if there is any interests in The Adventures of Abby and how she reminds people each day not to sweat the little stuff.
