My hats off to you for taking her in and providing her the love, attention, and health she deserves. She was nearly dead when you got her and she's looking so much better now.
Keep up the good work and please keep us all posted on her progress.

If your Vet is telling you to stick with Science Diet the ONLY possible reason I can fathom for their reason would be that they have huge discounts provided to them from their distributor and they're selling the food from their office lobby as a means of further financial gain. I'm willing to bet your Vet had signs and posters displaying Science Diet everywhere and stacks of the food readily available.
Science Diet = 2.5 stars in review and is comparable to most grocery store brand cheap foods. Its made up of mostly wheat is a common problem for Bull Terriers and has never been a natural part of a canines diet. Victor = 5 Stars and has MUCH better ingredients for a healthy diet. http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/victor-grain-free/
Blue Buffalo Wilderness = 5 Stars. http://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-reviews/blue-buffalo-dog-food-wilderness-dry/

What your Vet may not realize is that many Bull Terriers have allergic reactions to grain. Those familiar with the breed know first hand that this is true. Many breeds have no effect what so ever by eating grains and some bull terriers don't either. However, things like wheat and corn have no nutritional benefit for dogs. It's only added to foods as a filler and obviously to fool consumers into thinking they're getting a lot of food for the money in comparison to other expensive foods that actually contain nutritional food.
As far as prescription drugs are concerned, it's nearly impossible to bring any dog into a Vets office without leaving with prescription drugs that felt were needed. In the event your dog wasn't sick or in need of anything but a routine checkup than they'd surely recommend that you purchase their brand of flea, tick, or worm medication which always carries the highest price tag than anywhere else you could buy it at.
I'm not trying to bash Vets but it gets disheartening when time after time I hear about bad advice provided by Vets and unnecessary medications provided without proper tests conducted. It would be one thing if your Vet conducted proper tests on Daisy to conclude what her ailment was and prescribed a medication that was warranted.
I can tell you how many rescue Bull Terriers we've fostered that came to us with very bad skin problems. Most of these Bull Terriers came with bottles of prescription drugs all of which did nothing for them. What bothers me is knowing many of these Bull Terriers were given up on by their owners due to the back and forth visits to Vets which surely cost them a lot of money and ended concluding that their dog was just too much expense with no hope for healthing back to normal.
MY first step to getting these Bull Terriers back into proper health is discarding all the meds and concentrating on 3 key elements:
1. Proper Nutrition
2. Strengthening the Immune System
3. Exercise and Attention
