Just Rescued Daisy-need advice

Hello,

We just rescued Daisy three and a half weeks ago. She was only 16 pounds when we saved her. She's gaining weight and is very happy. The best we can tell is shes about 3 yrs old.  We have a 4 year old male Shitzuh and they are not getting along. Its mostly the shitzuh antagonizing the BT. She bit him and wouldn't let go the other night. what to do besides keep them in separate rooms?

The last pic was when we got her-FYI

The only thing you can do is work with that Shitzuh relentlessly until she gets the message that her aggression will not be tolerated. Put a muzzle on her and put them in the same room and control her behavior by supervising her and scolding her when she's bad and praising her when she's good. I'm shocked the Bull Terrier hasn't struck back in defense and hurt the Shitzuh badly. It's a matter of time before the Bull Terrier's patience wears thin and she unleashes on the aggressor. They're both in need of training and proper socializing. You may have better luck getting them used to each other outside or at a dog park on neutral ground.
I commend you for rescuing Daisy and bringing her back to a healthy state. Poor girl looks very stressed and scared from a long time of neglect.

  • Actually The bull terrier has struck back and latched hold of that shitzuh in her mouth pretty good and it was after the shitzuh nipped at her.

Im thinking about the nuetral ground thing.  Thanks for the feedback and Daisy loves her new home:

Shes less stressed and happier every day
  • Regardless of how difficult the circumstances seem, with patience and a stern but fair hand it will change. You have my utmost respect for having rescued Daisy.

    Dear Driving.
To be honest I bawled for 5 minutes after seeing your photos. Thank you, thank you for your generous heart.
People that allow a dog to get into that condition need to be hung by the b---s from a high fence on a busy highway. If we can help in any way please shout, and please, more pictures and stories.
In the beginning God created English Bull Terriers, in the image of EBT's, God created all other breeds.
