Importing from Argentina

Hello! My Name is Alisha and I have a male bully named Loki and he is a great-great grandson of "Rufus" CH Rocky Top's Sundance Kid, Bulicor Outrigger (Mexican CH) and is a great grandson of CH Nocturnal Knight at Arnold's. I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with importing a bully as I am interested in possibly acquiring a female next year from Iron Kennels in Argentina (Asin line). Does anyone on here have any experience with this kennel? I was told by the breeder a female would cost around $2500 shipped for show quality. This is quite a bit of money although I don't mind spending it on a high quality female I am a little uneasy about sending that much money to another country. Anyone have any tips at all?

  • Stick with Bullies of NC's and you can't go wrong in my opinion!

If you want a sure thing, then a local, quality breeder like BONC is the better choice. Nothing wrong however in bringing some new blood to the USA; AS LONG AS YOU CAN BE SURE that you are not getting ripped off.  I'd ask the breeder for references, preferably in the US, and check out the whole possibility and reliability thoroughly.
I take it you have seen photos and checked out the whole lineage of the litter they are offering?

In the beginning God created English Bull Terriers, in the image of EBT's, God created all other breeds.
  • Like I told you before Alisha.  BulliesofNC.  I do agree with philsergeant, do your homework and make sure you are dealing with a reliable breeder.  ;)
  • I wont actually be looking to get the puppy until nest year. Just in the homework stages right now and was just hoping someone might have delt with this kennel in the past or have heard things about them. My boy Loki actually has some of this kennels blood line. His great-great grand mother Asin One on his sires side was bred with Bullicor Outrigger. And although I don't have a judges eye or even a seasoned breeders eye all of his dogs look very well cared for and look healthy not to mention beautiful! They have a Facebook page called Asin Bull Terriers and the site is http://www.ironkennel.com.ar/ looks like he breeds/shows bull terriers and staffordshire bull terriers. I'm going to continue doing some homework on this breeder and see what comes up although they look pretty legit. they also have a YouTube channel and id think if they were scamming people they would get blasted on there or elsewhere on the web but I have not found anything yet. Looks like a lot of his dogs have Kilacabar blood in them.

@LokiLostCoast - Prior to purchasing any puppy from a breeder it's always best that you build yourself a checklist to ask each and every breeder. Many breeders often "accidentally" forget to disclose their Health Guarantees and genetic testings.

IronKennels has been around for about 11 years now. I don't know much about them at all and their website lacks in some of the details and information I'd want to know if I were someone looking to purchase a puppy. However, this doesn't mean they aren't breeding and raising quality Bull Terriers. Just do yourself a favor and ask many questions. For those breeders who meet your expectations plan a visit before purchasing a puppy.

Here's a document I wrote a while back which will be very helpful for coming up with the proper questions to ask any breeder: http://bulliesofnc.com/finding-reputable-bull-terrier-breeder/

  • It says on internet U CAN EASILY GET SCAMMED BY INTERNATIONALLY. SO BUY IN US ROCKYTOPS RUFUS WSS IN TN I BELIEV . and Rufus was got from sandstone
  • The post above me is a bit confusing, not sure what they're on about, but some people have had success buying internationally, so don't knock it as a whole. Nitro of Bulliesof NC is a transplant, I do believe.

Rufus was bred in Hixson, TN, by Bill and Becky Poole of RockyTop Kennels...not sure if you are trying to dispute that or not. Rufus lived mostly in New Jersey and is associated with Bullful Kennels as they were his owners, if I'm not mistaken. Many of Rufus' offspring are champions overseas in Europe now as well...so they had success in buying internationally.

Careful consideration must be taken no matter where you are buying from...

  • Weird...typed a bunch more but that's all that it caught? My phone doesn't like this forum lol
  • I'm aware that I could be scammed by international breeders but honestly I could just as easily be scammed by a U.S. breeder unless I was to actually go to their home/kennel and even then could end up with a sickly pup. Which is why I'm just doing my homework right now, I'm not looking to actually get the pup until next spring/summer at the earliest. The two I've been looking at Iron Kennels in Argentina (Asin bull terriers on Facebook) and Kenandai (U.S. Breeder) both have very nice looking dogs and they look healthy from what I can see. I've contacted both of them and asked some questions about planned litters for next year of which neither one had plans yet and didn't give much more information other then it would be $2500 for a pup from Iron Kennels and to contact him again closer to when I'd be ready for a pup. Kenandai I got no response from at first and finally got one a few days later after inquiring again. He just stated that he's a very busy man (which I understand) and gets a lot of inquiries and that he has no plans yet for next year. I did ask both of these breeders a list of questions about the health of their dogs, if they offered a guarantee of any kind but have yet to get answers about those. So I'm still looking around just doing homework

@LokiLostCoast - Good to hear you're doing your homework. Hopefully you took the time to read the article I provided you. If you did in fact read it you'd have noticed I harped on the importance of the health guarantee which is usually a testimonial to the confidence a breeder has within their own bloodline. A proper health guarantee should be very concise. Ours is simply  a 2 year unconditional health guarantee against any form of genetic disorder. The only reason I mention this to you is because one of the breeders you mentioned in your above post has a pretty simple Health Guarantee as well but I'm not sure you'd like it because it's a 7 Day health guarantee. Let me repeat that - a SEVEN DAY health guarantee. This breeder recently had a a couple litters born. I know this because I recently had a person contact me to tell me about their experience after their visit to buy a puppy from them. They refused to provide anything more than a 7 day health guarantee on the puppy and when asked why they didn't provide a better guarantee of health than that they told them they could go find a puppy somewhere else which is exactly what they did.
Good luck in your pursuit for a puppy. Don't be fooled by photos and what what's "told" to you over the phone. Ask to see a copy of their "Puppy Sales Contract" and read it carefully.

  • Which breeder was it? I haven't gotten much information from either breeder yet.
  • There was a member on this forum who had a dog from Kenandai Bull Terriers... Unfortunately she isn't on much more because she lost her dog in an accident... :( She may be a good resource for you regarding that breeder, but if it happens to be the same breeder that Steve is referring to, it may not be a good choice in the long run...
  • I'm guessing that's who he's talking about. It does say on their page that they are not a kennel and that the occasionally have puppies available. Looks like they show their dogs but I have no idea what their pedigrees are like or the health of their dogs. it would be nice to get a review from someone who has delt with them or the other kennel.

Yes, That's who I'm referring to. I actually wrote more about this particular incident about a month or so ago. http://www.bulliesofnc.com/BTforum/discussion/1997/need-help-with-a-breeder#latest

I was confident once you asked both breeders for their "Written" health guarantee and puppy purchase contract you'd have figured out quickly who I was referring to.

  • Haven't gotten that information from either one. Once I told them I wouldn't be looking to actually get the pup until next year spring/summer they both told me to contact them when I was ready. Didn't get much information from either one Unfortunately.

You should just tell them that while you're waiting for the right time to purchase a puppy you are conducting thorough research to ensure you're getting one from the right breeder and this is why you would like to review their written Puppy Sales Contract and Health Guarantee. If they have an issue with providing you one you'll already have an appropriate opinion of them. I'll tell you something though, if either of these breeders had a Health Guarantee that was something they thought people would respect and appreciate they would proudly list it on their website. As a breeder myself I can guarantee you they get asked by many people what their Health Guarantee covers.
I wish you luck getting a simple question answered by them. Can you image the efforts they'd provide if you were actually reaching out to them with a health concern from a puppy you purchased from them?
