I am sure that the black and white would be in most demand, he is fabulous, can't wait to see who he grows into,.... But my favourite is this one with the black facial blotches... magnificent!... I am sure they are all spoke for and I can't imagine the excitement and anticipation of the new owners.... If my pick mysteriously goes missing overnight, don't be distressed... just be amazed that someone drove all the way from Florida to pick her off in the middle of the night!
LOL, that girl's name is Jamaica and she's going to someone that actually purchased a Bull Terrier from us a few years ago. Now their home will be terrorized by two Bullies. Puppies are all going to their new homes Saturday which is sad for us but I'm sure very anticipated by the owners. I guess we'll be staring at photos for a good long while until we have another litter. Julie and I don't have any planned litters coming up any time soon but Craig and Terri have a planned breeding in a couple months so I'll be able to once again get my puppy fix soon enough. For now though I'm having a blast spending as much time with these little clowns as possible.
Did you modify the new Bullie owners' contracts to include wording; that they have to post photos every month for the first 18 months... otherwise the dogs get confiscated.??.. like you promised???? You look like you're that guy in the LaQuinta Hotel ads, and have all his ducks dogs in a row.
In the beginning God created English Bull Terriers, in the image of EBT's, God created all other breeds.
Morning All, I know this is an older thread, but on the subject of pups and grading, can you get a pretty fair idea of what a pup will turn out like by 8 weeks of age?
I imagine correct mouth, colour and general structure can be 'graded' by them, but how easy is it to determine what you will keep if looking for a show ring pup for yourself? I have heard that some breeders like to hang on to pups for longer to see how they mature (head, walk, style), but it would be a hard to pick otherwise.
I'm curious whether anyone has kept baby photos and compared older photos of a full litter to see what changes come into play?
The best way to get a good idea what a puppy will look like as a mature adult is by studying the parents. At 8 weeks there are certain things that allow an experienced breeder to have a good idea which puppy would most likely turn out the best among all the siblings. However, a lot can change from 8 weeks to maturity. The bite is always a hard thing to really predict. Due to my experience as a breeder I will say that all bites change slightly with age. The change will always cause the lower jaw to move forward slightly meaning that a puppy with a slight overbite will often end up with a great scissors bite. A puppy with a perfect scissors bite at 8 weeks old could very well end up with a slight underbite.
There's no breeder that can predict the exact outcome of a puppy at 8 weeks old so it isn't rare for some breeders to choose to wait many months just to ensure they choose the best possible puppy from a litter if they have intent to show.
Obviously for a buyer who is looking for a good quality puppy they aren't going to have the option of waiting many months to pick out a puppy unless the breeder is choosing a puppy for themselves and keeping all others on a pending sale with no idea which puppy they may end up with.
Again the best thing you can do is study the pedigree of a litter you are interested in. The puppies are going to take on the qualities of the parents while still pulling genes from 2nd and 3rd generations.
This post is already 2 years old but I've attached a few photos of the Tri-colored puppy you can see in the photos above.
Thanks for the updated photos, that's a good looking Tri-colour. Many many years ago, in search of a suitable show pup, I found that many of the good breeders within current trend were not selling anything, and some even say that on their site. I'm not sure what that means, perhaps they have arrangements within the BT show community to retain what they believe is stellar.
I'm off to a BT Club Open Show next month which will be a good excuse for me to watch, meet, chat to breeders and ask about their furry friends. It'll be a bit of a delayed happy Father's Day that I get to spend it around Bullies L-) My camera will be on hand!
