AKC Registration, its all about the name right? Help!

So I we are finally getting around to sending in the AKC registration for Rosco but are stumped on the name on his registration.  He is gorgeous, stocky and nearly 60 lbs at just under 10 months old.  Heads turn where ever we bring him and I am sure as he gets older and quits acting like a nin-com-poop he will be even more impressive, lol.  We of course will list Show Me's first since that is our amazing breeder but not sure if it is appropriate to give a nod to his parents names with his or if there is some kind of formula that most use.   Any suggestions are appreciated!

Give him a name that you adore as much as you adore him.... I don't think there such a science to it... use his real name and perhaps your family name or your "Home's" name... Our boy is "Marco of the Clan Sergeant"... People do make such a big deal coming up with fancy names, but I believe the last thing he'll be judged for is his name. More importantly, besides his thumbnail, which is gorgeous, I don't think we've seen any photos of Rosco..??. Come On!  Give us some! so he can can get some love and adoration here on the site. ... without any name at all.

P.S. at 60lbs under a year he has got to be a MONSTER! Golly! are you sure he isn't "RoscoSorus"
In the beginning God created English Bull Terriers, in the image of EBT's, God created all other breeds.

Many people get caught up in registered names and I will say they should take some thought especially for those that may wish to breed or show.

Most reputable breeders will ensure their puppies take on the bloodline name they produced. It's always good to see pedigrees that can researched with reputable bloodline vice seeing names like "Duke the Great" or "Suzie the Love Bug." Seeing names like these within pedigrees usually shouts "Backyard Breeder." However, if there was no intentions for showing or breeding the name would never end up on a future pedigree so it really wouldn't matter.

I know that "ShowMe Bullies" contracts all their puppies to carry their Bloodline name. Many try to incorporate the Kennel name with the call name. As an example one of our Studs named Rocky is registered as "Bullies of NC's Richlands Rebel Rock." One of our females is named Nitress and registered as "Bullies of NC's Nitress Oxide." Others prefer not to even mention their call name in the registration name.

When I think of the name Rosco it reminds me of the sheriff from Dukes of Hazard. An example of a registered name following suit with this theme would be "ShowMe's Rosco P Coltrane."   :))

Just think of something that best suits Rosco or something that you have an interest with that sounds good and is original.

  • Steve, haha, honestly, that is what is name is "Rocso P Coltrane" from the Dukes of Hazard.  P standing for Poindexter.   We honestly intended to go with ShowMe's Rosco P Coltrane but second guessed ourselves on if that would be cheezy or if we should go with something more prestigious sounding.

Phil, I will definitely post some photos of him!  I like the RoscoSorus idea, that kind of fits too, haha.
