One plant that can be deadly... and we have dozens of them in our garden, is the Sago Palm. Not the plant, but the seeds... seen here as they start and how big they grow before they ripen.... cut those suckers off and throw them away nowhere nearby if you have them... many dogs both love the taste and die from them.
