squatting & accidents
hey everyone so this is our second week with coach he will be 10 weeks, we have been working on his nipping and have had a lot of success! =D> however! potty training is not going to well.. this week he got worse not better he pooped twice in the house immediately after we came inside. i take him out every time he wakes up and after he eats. when we are out side he will squat like 10 times after he pees so nothing is coming out but he still does it, is he marking ? sometimes he will pee then run up to the stairs and refuses to go back out on the grass this happened when he pooped in the house. any tips and tricks anyone can recommend. oh and after he has peed and pooped he gets a treat and lots of praise. he also pees in the house after he just comes in too he even squatted in his crate today! :O am i doing something wrong? i have owned large breed dogs my whole life and have never had a problem with house training.

A few years ago we bought a house and found their dogs has pee'd on the staircase so bad we had to rip up the carpet AND the wood, and tile it to get rid of the stink. If they get in a bad habit it sticks, literally
Today i took him out he pooped and squared several times and came back to the door we came in and I had a couple things to do upstairs so I brought him with me he walked into my room with me looked up at me and squared this was literally 2 mins after we came inside!! After he was squatted without any pee coming out like I said I've owned plenty of dogs in my life and have never experienced this!
Also, he's only 10 weeks old, I'd say you've got at least 2 more weeks of consistent accidents...he'll get the hang of it don't worry.
I can only assume your Vet understands that your puppy is still very young and tests really aren't warranted at this time to find out if his bladder has an abnormal disorder in which he may have been born with. One thing for sure, your puppy shouldn't be constantly squatting especially if it's nonproductive meaning nothing is coming out. Is he drinking excessive amounts of water which could be a sign of kidney problems?
I'm hoping @Leslie chimes in on this discussion because I know she has a Bull Terrier that was born with a bladder problem. She can probably add a lot of good insight to things to be watchful of or things that would be cause for concern.
I'm in high hopes your puppy has a normal bladder and kidneys and is only being stubborn when it comes to potty training. He's still very young and puppies urinate fairly often at his age so what you may consider a lot may very well be normal. You may find it helpful to research canine bladder and kidney problems so you can rule learn more about early warning signs and possibly rule out these as a factor to his problem. You may also consider having him properly tested if his problem continues. Many breeders automatically have their dogs tested for many genetic disorders just to ensure their dogs are within proper health elements for breeding and developing healthy puppies. The Creatinine Test is a very popular test conducted to ensure the kidney is healthy. You may wish to consider at least having this test conducted on him.
