New to the bully world

Hello everyone I am new to the group we just recently added a beautiful 9 week old male EBT to our family his name is coach. I was wondering how much he should be eating and how often we currently have him on blue buffalo. Thanks everyone

    Welcome to the Forum!

At least 1 cup twice a day. Some EBT puppies at that age have excellent appetites and can eat more than one cup per serving. I wouldn't worry too much about over feeding him because his metabolism and energy level is very high as a puppy and all the way to 24 months of age. On the back of the Blue Buffalo it actually has the prescribed serving size for dogs based on weight. You may also want to add canned food, meat, veggies, etc to his dry kibble to change up the taste so he continues to look forward to eating his meals and eats appropriate amounts.

  • Welcome aboard! You came to the right place. You can feed him a lot. You can't really over feed him. Lots of people or even dog food companies will say feed them as much as you want. Adding meat, veggies and good canned food is a plus. This forum is full of pros. Listen to advice Steve a.k.a. BulliesofNC has for you.

I'd recommend keeping and eye on the pup and try not to leave him at home. They will miss you and can be very destructive especially at that age. I would also recommend not playing tug of war too hard when they are too young. I did that with my first one and his k9s got dull really fast. Also while he is growing its good to make sure he isn't jumping from too high of a spot. Like jumping out of the bed of a truck or off a very high tree stump Ect. They may hurt themselves and never know or just not care.

Make sure you socialize, socialize and more social activities. Have him around kids, dogs, cats, cows or whatever you can think of.

I'm sure I speak for everybody else on the forum when I say this. We would like to see pictures! :-c

Welcome MissZeng, we'd love to see photos of Coach, and find out about where you acquired him, his parents, and anything else you'd like to share, we love helping Bullie owners with the ( sometimes ) daunting task of owning them, almost as much as we love Bullies!

You will need to admonish the nipping the pants leg part, if he's allowed to get away with that he'll soon be nipping the leg..... Strange that he is not eating his food to the full, Bullies are very food driven... Is he getting a lot of exercise?. I'd try putting some boiled chicken breast at the bottom of the bowl, ( small deep bowl) with the kibble covering it... He'll dig down.

Well he obviously doesn't like that one... Try Victor Grain free! or Taste of the Wild... Always puppy mix.but blend it into his old food slowly, otherwise he'll get the trots.

Just looked at the photos... Man he is gorgeous! ... ( the kid doesn't look bad either :-) )... Soon he'll be knocking the boy on his butt, so you better get him to learn to slow down as soon as he gets too boisterous.... You'll need watch those big ears, if they don't start to show signs of standing up in 3 or 4 weeks you'll need to think of taping them.

Until you get his diet settled I'd hold on the Knox.. He is young yet.

  • Welcome aboard. Lots of valuable information here that will help in the long run. Feel free to ask any questions and I'm sure someone will help.
  • My males ears weren't up all the way until 7 months old. My female at 3 months. No tape required for ether of them. It varies from bully to bully. Must just be their genetics
  • Coach looks great! Welcome to the forum!
  • Welcome to the forum and the addition of your beautiful Bully pup Coach.  Twin 2 year old boys and a pup, you sure have your hands full.  While there is no set date for the ears to go up, this can sometimes take awhile.  But, when his ears really start to pull up (not laying down flat on his head) you should start being a little proactive to assist.  By giving him Know gelatin once you have switched to a puppy food that is not making him loose.  This will help harden the cartiladge.  Doing this in conjunction to taping the ears the process will go faster.  There are others remedies to make the ears stand, but these 2 ways tape/knox have proven 100% with our puppies.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12HCmMSto8M
