Adult Weight?

Stella will be 8 months old on May 1st, and I weighed her today (4/27) and she is 40 lbs. I was told that her adult weight would be around 45 lbs. Seeing that she is already at 40 lbs and only around 8 months... do you think 45 lbs is accurate or will she weigh more as an adult?

I'm only asking because I currently use 45 lbs as her target weight for meal proportions and I want to be sure I'm not underfeeding her.

Thank you :)

I would guestimate her final adult weight to be closer to 50 pounds if she is already 40 pounds now. She'll fill out and get thicker from now until she's around 2 years old.

Every EBT is different.  At 8 months, and now, at 16 months, our kids weigh more or less the same.  Marco has gained 2lbs to 66.5 and Isabella has lost 2 lbs to 63.5... they always used to be within a lb of each other.
But, I'd keep feeding her like she was growing and making sure she gets her fill of the best... What dis her parents weigh?

  • Quinn probably hasn't gained more than 5 pounds since she was 10 months old. She is very petite at only 40 pounds, turns 3 this month. Her mother is 50 pounds (after her spay), father may be in between 50 and 60. Sister from same litter is 50 pounds. Full sister from different litter is 60. So there's lots of variation...but I would count on at least 5 pounds from 8 months to full grown.

I was able to visit with Trayler yesterday for the first time in a
while.  He turned out to be a handsome pup at 10 months and weighs 55
    lbs.

Here's a pic of him at 7 months old.

  • Her mother was around 55 and her father was 60. The breeder did tell me she was smaller than her siblings when I first got her, but at least I know a relative range now :)

    Trayler is absolutely gorgeous :)

    Thanks everyone!
  • Caesar is currently 9 months old and is 32kg.. I hope his growth slows a little now, he is soooo powerful and an absolute unit.

Murphy turns a year old at the end of May, and is about 42 pounds, still very lanky and delicate (like Quinn!). She's as feminine as a bully CAN be.

  • If I didn't already know where Quinn's sister was, I might have thought Murphy was related! Quinn has a sister that looks just like Murphy. Love our petite girls. :)
  • What about sizes for young males? Barney (before he got sick) was 44 lbs. He seems a little smaller than I anticipated (he was the largest pup in his litter). He's 9 months old now. He still seems lanky, so when he's fully and finally over his terrible illness, I'll read up on the forums that are centered around bulking up your bully. Murphy and Trayler are adorable. I think I've already mentioned my crush on Quinn in another post.

9 months... So he has another 9 to reach full weight... Get him on the best food that he likes and he'll reach his ideal weight...if that is only 55 lbs that'll be fine for him. All bullies are different

  • Phew, Quinn is 3 and the heaviest she's ever been was 47 pounds! If Barney reached 44 before 9 months, I'd say he'll definitely grow and fill out a lot more. Quinn didn't look like a proper sausage until this past year.
Also, told her you got a crush on her... She's bashful. :\">
  • It really depends on the line I think. Some mature faster than others. Pete has gained about 20-25 lbs. since he was 8 months old. Here are pics at 8 months and currently at about 3.5 years.

Just weighed the Kids... Isabella is still 62.5lbs as she was 4 months ago... (They are now 1 year and 8 months), and Marco has gained a 1lb to 67.5lbs.  ... But he doesn't LOOK 67lbs! at all.. until you pick him up to weigh him, he is totally solid.... Does he look 67lbs to you Steve?, any other opinions?... (The one where Issa is out of perspective behind him is a little confusing though)...

    @philsergeant
    good lookin pair.

I'd say he looks all of 67 lbs when compared to da Choob.

Chooba is 5 months, 2 weeks, and he weighed in @ 43.5 lbs saturday @ the vet.  I made them zero the scale and do it again, as I would've guessed'm @ 30-35 lbs  He's 17" @ the withers ( is that english ? )

He puts everything in his mouth so at this point I gotta figure he ate a 10lb lead brick or 50 bucks in change.
.....still think the scale was off

Marco looks every bit 67 pounds. He isn't small by no means and he's thick. I often look at the neck size to get a better idea of weight on a Bull Terrier.

  • @chooba looks like his head and snout weigh 15 pounds alone!
Murphy just weighed in at 45 pounds this weekend and is 14 months old, and still as leggy as ever. I am guess I'll just have a delicate, feminine little bully girl, like @Quinnofhearts!
  • My English bull terrier is 6 months old. Been to the vets with him today and he is weighing 63 pounds. I got in his cage with him and jus shows how big our boy is lol..Handsome boy and a big boy.. Love him to bits

My boy is 8 months close to 9, he only weight 48 pounds at 19 inches.
    I love him dearly too

63 pounds at only 6 months old is very big. The photo of him actually depicts him as smaller than 60 pounds but it may very well be an older photo. At his rate he's going to be a very big Bullie. Please keep in touch and send more photos!

I think it must be a massive sized Kennel crate and I'm visualizing it as a standard size. This big boy is going to be pushing 100 pounds at his rate by the time he's 24 months old, matured, and filled out. Hopefully there's a size bigger crate to hold him in.

No, I believe if that was a standard crate that "12 year old" wouldn't be in there!  Great Photo.

Yep, he's going to be a monster. He's going to need a crate about the size of a refrigerator in another 6 months.

  • Oh yea. Miss crate TOO BIG I CAN LAY HEAD TO TOE IN IT.......MISS AT A YEAR 41.8 POUNDS. I NEED TO measure the height . I wanted her to have enough room PLUS I DIDNT WANNA BUY ANOTHER CRATE SO SHES GOT BRUNNOS AKA FATBOY the HORRIBLE ROT. I'm his momma he naturally loves me. THATS THE AGGRESSION THING. HE STARTS FOAMING AT THE MOUTH AT CERTAIN INDIVIDUALS AND I am scared FOR THE LIVES OF THESE PEOPLE. Oh my I'm gonna crash. I've figured it out.
  • Jinx is 7 months and he is just on 31kg...so i think he will also be a big boy...considering he eats everything in his path..but we run in the mountains 3 days a wek so he is well toned.. image

  • My baby is now 53lbs and he made 10 months 5 days ago, even though he is somewhat heavy, he looks like a greyhound, he measures between 18inches to 18.5 inches, is it too high for a EBT?
