again, when it comes to grooming, what kind of supplies I have to use for my white friend? could you share the brands I should get?like powders, brushes, sprays and other things so Baltas will look right for the upcoming show.Thank you
I'm also just starting out in the show area, but I just purchased some good whitening shampoo and chaulk. I have been doing some test runs at home to see what works and what doesn't, the chaulk is Chris Christensen and the shampoo is whitening enzyme shampoo. I forget the brand, but I think it's E-Z Groom. Beautiful boy by the way!
thanks,Boyda for advice.ill get shampoo and chaulk.will the chalk stay on their coat?dogs are moving, shaking.since my dog has those bald spots on the head and tail,i don't know how you call that paste you can put on his spots to hide them.
@Gabriele - The judges that are familiar with Bull Terriers will be accustomed to seeing the two notorious bald spots on your Bull Terrier which are on his scent glands.
You want to rub the cholesterol on the fur first so will soften the fur and give the powder something to adhere to. The hairspray is used to lightly spray over the fur once you are done with powder which will help keep the powder in as well as eliminate any powder residue. It will also prevent the powder cloud effect if the judge decides to pat the dog. You don't want to have powder visible or coming off on the hands of a judge. They will be touching the dog all over and don't want to see excessive amounts of powder.
I don't buy the cholesterol from companies that say it's for Dogs only and wish to mark up the price for unknown reasons. Go to Sally's Beauty Supply and pick up a can for around $5. Same stuff used on dogs. Smells good and works well.

Its not colostrum.its cholesterol.people at the beauty shop where looking at me like I was from the other planet, haha.anyways,i found it.and we went trough our first show this weekend.i was lucky-Baltas was groomed by a professional.i was watching and learning.
Haha,he did not behaved.he just wanted to play with every dog he saw.we need to go to conformation classes.but it was a good experience for both of us.
How I practiced with confirmation was doing it at a dog park. I would take him inside and have him follow me off lead around the park, trying to keep him distracted from the other dogs, most of the time it didn't work, sometimes it did. When he wouldn't focus I would take him out of the park and walk him close by on the outside. That way he had a lot of distractions during his training so when he goes to the shows he would focus on me more then the dogs.
