Maya's Portrait arrived today!

So let the critiquing begin. The portrait arrived today and my wife sent me a photo. The shadows you see are just from the photo. They are not on the portrait. Here is the photo I sent and the portrait...side by side. Me? I think she did a damn fine job. I am very pleased and my daughter was beside herself. She did not know it was coming.

That portrait looks fantastic! I wish I had the ability to draw more than a stick figure.

Yeah Steve....before Photoshop and Adobe Acrobat I couldn't even draw a straight line. The artist, Debbie Samson, has her artwork in some pretty well known places like the National Museum of Natural History. Pretty impressive credentials. And she emailed me telling me that of all the dog portraits she has done, this one of Maya is her favorite!

She definitely has some professional skills. I've seen many sketched drawings of Bull Terriers and rarely do they capture the exact proportions and structure of the dog.

It was just a spur of the moment thing. I got the offer on FB and took it. Very pleased with the results.

Xtracho, the picture of Maya is beautiful.  The artist definitely captured her spirit and beauty in her work.  This is an awesome piece, one that you'll always be glad you decided to do it.

Thanks folks...everyone at home thinks it's a wonderful portrait.
Actually thinking about commissioning the same artist to do another
one....this time maybe a pencil sketch in B&W. Or maybe one in oil.
Debbie did a great job for sure. And it was a quick turnaround too. If
