food getting stuck

Tonight after feeding Caesar (kibble and raw beef mince) he appeared to be in some discomfort, so I went to his aid. At first I thought he had something stuck in his teeth or throat, he was trying very hard to dislodge whatever it was to no avail. I then did the brave thing and put my fingers in his mouth to try and assist and discovered a clump of food on the roof of his mouth.  I managed to scrape it out but every mouthful he took it was getting stuck and I ended up sitting with him and dislodging every mouthful and assisting him to swallow it.

This was really weird as this hasnt happened before, has this happened to anyone else?

One of our older girls used to get peanut butter stuck to the roof of her mouth... We don't do that any more, but the thing to make sure of is that their food isn't too mushy... Better a tiny bit on the dry side.

Does he have raised food bowls? I know some people have said their bullies have trouble eating on ground level.

I've had one issue with that, but that was because my dog tried to inhale the food as fast as they could and I had mixed raw in kibble. I would also do as philsergeant recommends, maybe feed kibble first, the raw they could be getting super excited over the raw.

I would give plenty of water.  I agree with philsergeant, not too mushy.
