This breaks my heart to see any dog in that situation! Hopefully someone can help her out, from the comments it sounds as if the BTRVA is fully loaded with bullies and unable to pull her.

Too bad they don't have kill shelters for owners that do this kind of thing. And I don't have a lot of respect for the people that run a kill shelter either.

So many breeders in that area too. All of which turn a blind eye to a Bull Terrier in need within their own area. Sad, very sad.

Just out of curiosity, but how would the breeders keep track of a Bully in need? I highly doubt most pups go out microchipped and I think that contributes to a lot of these issues. A simple microchip with the breeders info can hopefully save a pup who is ever in that position. If I was to ever hear a pup I sold ended up on death row I would have a shit fit the whole world would hear.

It's real easy Boyda, those that breed (regardless what breed type) contact their local shelters, introduce themselves, and let them know that they are a Bull Terrier Rescue Group and in the event any Bull Terrier is rendered to their shelter they will gladly pick the dog up, shelter it, care for it, and find a loving and appropriate home for him or her. More people contact breeders inquiring about adult rescues and adoptions than you can imagine. I rehome several Bull Terriers every year.

You know, I also blame breeders... but they wouldn't breed unless someone was willing to buy their product... So fundamentally the public are to blame for buying a dog they are not equipped or prepared to give a whole life to.... I know that if we imposed a fine for turning in your dog to a shelter (something that I have seen all too frequently with my own eyes... "Oh, we got him for the kids for Christmas but he's impossible"..)  We'd find thousands of abandoned dogs..... So, when I am KING, I'll impose a law that says a) you have to pass an IQ test before being allowed to buy a dog, and b) you have to place $5000 in escrow which is redeemable only on producing a certificate of natural (or sadly, tragic ) death.   I said King, not president, because that's not an elected position, and I don't think they'd vote me back, for this, and many many other reasons.

That's not true at all Phil. You seem to be a very good talker and in our country today that's the only qualifying thing you need to be good at in order to be elected to President.

I honesty didn't even think about that Steve. Maybe they don't want to visit their past beloved puppies in that environment. I feel horrible when I see a foster is needed in my area and I can't take it in, but I can't save the whole world.

I know what you mean. I wish I could save every dog out there but that's just not possible. However, saving every EBT in the state of NC is possible and what we've been doing for years. You won't find any BT's in this state at any kill shelters period. Maybe if all breeders had the same ethics we wouldn't have the problems we do today.

Fully agree with you. California does a good job at moving bullies out of the shelters, but we will always have our one offs.
