Weight Gain with Raw Meats

BulliesofNCBulliesofNC Richlands, NC
Thou shall not waste meat and thy Bullies love me for it! What to do with 15 pounds of Bear meat scrapings.
For those looking to add some weight and muscle mass on your Bullie through raw Meats here's some photos I took tonight of one of my favorite recipes only this time I used Black Bear instead of beef or venison. Bear meat is higher in fat and loaded with protein.

That's a first, never seen anyone feed a carnivore to a Bullie... I guess the bear is technically an omnivore...

I'm sure my pup would eat it.

That reminds me, I've gotta get out and see my buddy Rick who chops deer. He's put the knife to quite a few this year judging by his FB pics.

Looks like a few bear made it their way to his chop-shop too. Maybe I can get more than venison?

For you puppy lovers, that's Rick with his Boxer Bella in front of the salted hide pile.

    Gee Steve,
That looks just like our Christmas Pudding!
In the beginning God created English Bull Terriers, in the image of EBT's, God created all other breeds.
  • Was just considering switching Meatball to raw meat diet when I lost her due to kidney failure.  I know I will get another and most likely I will visit this location 3.5 hours south from me.  I definitely want a reputable breeder.  I must have hit the genetic lottery with mine as she lasted just under 16 years and was fabulously healthy up till 1.5 days to losing her.  That was a blessing.

Any Bull Terrier that is blessed to see their 16th birthday was a healthy and well taken care of Bull Terrier!

  • What diet did you have your precious Meatball on?
  • That's awesome!! I'm striving for that 16 years!! Lol I don't think I'll be able to function without my stooge!!
  • I found this on the internet.  I don't understand, as there are a lot of people feeding raw meat.  Maybe it's because they were puppies.  I'd love to have some input.

As you all know there was 4 puppies in my last litter, but I had to put the little red girl to sleep at 5 weeks old.
From 3 weeks old she suddenly developed a neurogical disease and was basically fading away. The tests have now come back from the labs and she has tested positive for NEOSPORA which my vet tells me must of been passed on from me feeding raw beef mince!!!
This is very upsetting, are there any other breeders who feed raw mince to their puppies?
PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL RAW BEEF IS EITHER FROZEN OR COOKED BEFORE FEEDING TO YOUR PUPPIES OR DOGS, AS THIS KILLS THE PARASITES.

    (1) I never begin feeding any of my Bull Terriers raw meat until they are at least 6 months old.

    (2) I either am buying frozen meat or I freeze the meat I've gotten from hunting.

Many don't and have never had any problems. However, I just don't wish to take any chances.

  • I didn't start Spud on raw til' 8 months and freeze all food before he eats. Haven't had any issues yet. Had more positives like firm and less poop and nicer looking coat. However I do inspect all raw food given to Spud and only stick to chicken and turkey for now.
  • I have been feeding my dogs this stuff along with Taste of The Wild and other suppliments. I had to back off the tripe a little when Pete got to a hefty 85 lbs . When I cut his tripe servings in half and kept everything else the same he got down to 75 lbs.within a few months.

  • Good to know, I gave Roxanne some cooked chicken gizzard tonite , she played with it then are it then ate her food then threw it up :). I am guessing she is a little sensitive ? Right now she is happy chewing a bone
  • I have always used probiotics with the raw stuff. This is what I use, it is available at the local pet stores.

  • Hi all, I have just joined and have just changed my 4.5month female to raw its pre prepared frozen with all the added nutrients, I plan to make my own as its expensive. I only concern is how much to feed the store said 2lbs a day I feel she may need more as I had been feeding 3 times and we have 1.5 hour of exercise daily. All comments would be appreciated Thanks Michelle:)

  • ALL food has a  the potential to make our pets sick or die- Don't believe that feeding your pet kibble will keep them safe (E-colli, Salmonella, mold, even broken glass and nails have been reported killing pets eating kibble)

all we can do is take the best precaution we can when feeding our pets anything.
