Say Hi to our new family member!

Well guys, I really did not think that it would happen so soon after our beloved Bikkel passed, but yesterday we adopted  this 10 week old guy who is currently finishing off shredding the 2nd dishtowel that he has managed to snatch from the kitchen.  We decided to take him because he is deaf and he had already
been returned after 2 days by the previous owner and we know that we can give
him the loving home that he deserves.  I
know that we have a hard slog ahead of us and that I’ll be coming on here to
ask for your help and tips, but I have already spent hours on the internet
checking about training of deaf dogs, so the regime started this morning and
amazingly he is already responding to the sit command by only using a hand
signal (with the help of a cookie or two!!)

We still have no name for him (any suggestions welcome,
except Beethoven which was what the 2 day owner called him).  I know it doesn't matter for him, but a dog
needs a name – right? Will keep you posted!

  • Awww you guys I'm so happy for you!!! He looks like a Chewie!!! Hence the dish towel shredder!!
Your actions speak so loudly I cannot hear your words.
  • Congrats...he is a handsome little devil. And looking very healthy....must be the vitamins in those dish towels!
  • Awwww, sooo cute!  It looks like his nose has a heart on it, and there's a heart wreath hanging behind you in one of those pictures.  "Mon coeur" (my French might be off) or "my heart" in a different language for his name?  I'm sure others will come up with better names than me, I'm usually horrible.  But, the heart shape on his nose, the heart wreath, and the big, kind heart that you have for giving a loving home to this lovely puppy is what came to mind for me.
  • What a sweet looking guy! Congrats.
  • He's a hefty handsome boy!! Big hoss?? Lol adorable!
  • He is a little beef-cake isn't he?

    Congrats to you guys!

He looks like a Teddy to me...

You and that pup are quite fortunate to have found each other. I see a beautiful relationship on the horizon ;)

Heck! He is almost as handsome as you!! Goed gedaan, gefeliciteerd! ( see my Afrikaans helps)... I know he will do you proud! He's going to need a lot of help with those Dumbo Ears!!! Wow, they must weigh a pound each... We're all so excited to see and hear how he fills your heart again... Personally, from the look of him, he's not going to have much trouble fulfilling that task... I know others are going to consider me insensitive if I, jokingly, say sometimes I "wish" our bullies were deaf, maybe I'd be able to sneak up to my office at 4 am and get some work done without them coming along to disrupt me! But I really believe that he will get to the point that its totally invisible to others that he is deaf, and second nature to you... Bullies are so smart, other dogs couldn't do it, but he will be able to read every little gesture and mind read your every thought, he won't be a bit disadvantaged. Wonderful news that your family is becoming whole again!
In the beginning God created English Bull Terriers, in the image of EBT's, God created all other breeds.
  • He is gorgeous!  Looks like he has good breeding.  Chubby little fellow.  Give him a macho name, not a whemp name.  He's going to be big.  Like TANK.  He doesn't know he is different, so don't treat him as such. May be a little more of a challenge,,butt well worth it.  :x
