Breeding Mini EBT's with Standard EBT'S

Hi I'v just got me a EBT he is a puppy at the moment I'v own and Standard EBT in the past growing up name Spuds but this one with is name Kaiser he was bred with a Mini and a Standard his Dad is a Mini and his Mom is a Standard they are both AKC and Kaiser is not AKC because they do not allow the mixing of Mini and Standards but he is Registered under the CKC,UKCI,APRI which allow it and he is registered as a Standard but I was wondering if anybody knows how big he will get?

Comments

  • Depends on the weight of both the dam and sire of the litter. I would guess the average weight of the two.
  • whats a sire and dam? the dad and mom?

  • Well the dad is a super short mini EBT and the mom is a small size standard EBT so I'm guess Kaiser will be a lot smaller then my old EBT Spuds that I had before him
  • If anybody has picture's of a EBT that was made by breeding a Mine EBT with a Standard EBT please out them up cause im starting to think im the only one that has a pup mixed with the two size's cause I searched the web and I can't find anything about people breeding Mini's with Standards thanx

Why would anybody want to do that?  Is the sentiment just like mixing a bunch of chemicals together in the garage in order to see what happens? Or is there a purpose?

CKC amazes me how they'll provide people registration papers for a litter of puppies that was crossbred from a Standard BT and a Mini BT. However, in truth if you bred a BT to a Toy Poodle and told CKC you had Mini BT's they'd give you registration papers.
What's sad about a breeding like this is the fact that in about 10-20 years people in America will be wondering why Standard BT's are having to be tested for PLL when it used to be a genetic defect found in the Mini BT not the Standard. With unethical breedings being conducted this way it's just a matter of time before we add more genetic faults to the breed and in turn lowering the overall value and respect of the breed. American ruined the German Shepard many years ago with hip dysplacia and other health issues that plaque the breed today which have lowered the quality they once held. I remember years ago when the Rottweiler was an expensive breed with well kept bloodlines. Within a short period of time even that breed has been polluted by inappropriate breeding. Now you can find many litters being advertised in the local paper by backyard breeders for about the price of a Pit Bull Puppy.

An average AKC Mini Bull Terrier puppy usually sells for around $2000. One with reputable bloodlines will sell for over $3000. They are a rare breed, more so than the standard which isn't a cheap breed of canine either. One thing to keep in mind is that they are TWO Different breeds. With this said, if you breed an AKC Standard Bull Terrier to a AKC Mini Bull Terrier you have just developed a MUTT. It is no longer a pure bred breed of canine that's why AKC won't register a puppy bred between two different breeds. CKC will register anything as long as they're paid and yes they do provide registration papers for many other types of Mutts. I'm sure if you bred a Mini Doberman with Standard Doberman there are many fly by night kennel clubs willing to provide papers on the puppies showing them as a pure bred dog. Possibly the word PURE in pure bred has lost all meaning to some. However, that's not the case with AKC and may be why it's the only kennel club in the country that holds any merit and value.

@SpudsKaiser - I don't know of anyone that would spend the money on an AKC Mini Bull Terrier and have no knowledge on the breed, respect for the breed, and intentions of breeding to a different breed of dog that couldn't be registered through AKC and cherished for it's uniqueness as a rare Pure Bred dog. What I see quite often is poorly bred CKC (and AKC) standard Bull Terriers being bred which are claimed to be Mini's because their qualities within their structure, conformation, and build are substandard. Most all are skinny, small headed BT's with straight and narrow long noses, long legs, and lacking muscle tone and mass. I'm willing to bet you that if you ask the breeder for a copy of the sires AKC pedigree you'll either get the following: (1) Breeder won't be able to provide you a copy, (2) A pedigree stating he is actually a Standard Bull Terrier, or (3) No AKC papers presented, just CKC documentation.
You're going to have a hard time finding any photos of a BT that comes from crossing a Standard with Mini because there aren't too many breeders that would wish to create such a breed. Then again there aren't too many breeders that would have provided you a puppy at the age of 6 weeks old. At least I hope not. My thoughts are that you have a CKC Standard Bull Terrier that came from a CKC Standard sire and dam (mother and father). I haven't seen a photo of him but my guess would be that he will grow to be about 15 or 16 inches to the withers and weight between 45-50 pounds.
Please post a photo of Kaiser. I'd love to see him and I'm sure others would too.

  • I doubt you will find a picture of a mini standard mix, but they are out there. Most wouldn't breed the two, as they are classified as two separate breeds by the AKC and most reputable breeders breed to better the breed and adding in mini doesn't attribute to that. I'm not trying to knock you or your lil pup down, I'm sure he will turn out cute with all the traits of an EBT. The sire/dam is the mom and dad.

Spuds look young in that picture 5 years ago. What happened to him?

Thanks for sharing the photos of Kaiser. He's a cute little guy. From the photos Kaisers dad looks bigger than his standard mom. Pictures can be deceiving though.

Spuds looked like he just came home from a Friday night bar fight with that shiner! What a beautiful boy, ...and what a tragic, tragic way to lose him.... I don't think I could survive that type of calamity if it ever happened to me... It's hard enough losing them to old age, but losing them young has got to be a mind bender. Both our lost angels were over 14.
People think I'm over protective with our dogs and ninny them too much, but if they are outside the house they're on a lead and I won't unclip one until I clip on the other if we're changing from a house lead to a field lead.... Unless I get a LOT better with voice commands when they're older that will stay the rule... It just takes a cat, or a fox, or sight of a horse to send our kids off charging with delight.... I don't even think they'd hear a voice command, they just love the interaction so much..... A fox could lead them half a mile across two roads in 3 minutes, and this 62 year old fart could never catch up in time.......

  • When Joel & I went diving i Fiji I bought a painting.  When we got it stateside I got it appraised.  I was told what I had was an expensive souveneer.  Kaiser looks like a beautiful dog.  You will love him none the less, but I wouldn't breed him.  :x

    So where's the painting?

  • Thanx for the story's and nice comments guy and I'm not planning on breeding him even know I'm not getting his you know what's cut lol

  • Some countries allow/encourage breeding BTs with MBTs to help reduce PLL. Australia is one country that allows it. If I remember right, you need to pass certain health clearances to be eligible for an interbreeding pass. The pups are to be registered as minis.
  • That's cool I had no idea what's PLL? And mine is registered as a standard
  • your right just found the site and just finished reading it its call Healthdogs.com/interbreeding.pdf if anybody would like to look at it  thanx Rumour that very interesting :)
  • Another site I found that talks about it is called worldog.com/interbreeding-bul-terrier
  • You're welcome. I'll have to read up on it again because I swear the pups are supposed to registered as minis. Different countries might have different rules though. Or I could be wrong :)
  • No your right but only after the 3rd generation of breeding there considered mini's
