Stoegers first walking trail!
We decided to take Stoeger on his first hiking trail today! It's beautiful in the northeast in the fall and Stoeger loves the leaves! We didn't find a good hiking trail since it was a short decision so we decided to go to the state park right down the road. It was packed with people, kids, and doggies so Stoeger was in hog heaven! He was extremely well behaved! We are proud parents! Stoeger was stopped by numerous people and children and got all the belly rubs he could handle! Everyone was nice and asked to pet him first so we had ample time to have Stoeger sit before his excitement level got uncontrollable!

Yes, we live in the part of NY that has trees, haha! The park is only 10 minutes from our front door.
Stoeger did awesome on the trail. We used the pinch collar for most of the trail to keep him from pulling on the lead. The middle section of the trail has steep drop-offs so we switched him to a harness in case he decided to Australian Rappel down the Escarpment
On the pinch, he would heel. On the harness, he pulled. He kept great pace, except in the parking lot. EVERYONE wanted to pet him or ask about him. One little girl even had her father catalog his name because she keeps an inventory of every dog she meets 8-}
I've already picked out Stoeger's next hike. It's a trail I used to frequent when I was a kid. We will be sure to give everyone an update next weekend if the weather is good.
