bully going crazy

Hello everyone, this is strange to describe but here I go, my bull terrier seems to have gotten a rash or hives on him, red marks it seems to be a reaction but the strange thing is he is acting weird running all over the house as if he is chasing bugs he looks at the floor and then runs sits on the couch and then bolts as if he just got bit or sees something on the floor, it looks like he has a feeling of being bit and trying to run from what ever he thinks , he is up all night doing this took him to the vet she said it looks like a reaction but it is the way he is acting that is driving me crazy, 2 years age he had fleas and acted the same way, i do not see any fleas,( he is 4 years old) also I gave him benadryl 3, 25 mg and that did not even knock him out, has anyone ever had this happen to them before PLEASE HELP
thank you Frank

  • I'd say start with a good shampoo.  I use earthbath.  Totally Natural Pet Shampoo.  Tea Tree Oil & Aloe Vera.  That's a really good shampoo.  ;)   Have you changed his diet?  That's another place to look.

Could have been caused by so many different things. His odd behavior is puzzling. Maybe he developed some kind of phobia from whatever caused the problem. He may have laid down on a nest of fire ants and got a rude awakening. Dogs playing out in the yard can often make this mistake especially at night.
Unfortunately there's really no telling how or what caused the problem.

To me it would be too coincidental that he developed a "mental" problem at the same instant that his skin broke out... Or as Steve suggested, broke in.... It's got to be the skin irritation that is driving him nuts... I find Bullies can stand great pain but can't stand a small itch at all.... So if he is REALLY itching you can bet he is going nuts trying to find the culprit himself.... Something must have caused it, food, rat poison ( my son had some attic rats and called in an exterminator and the moron taped some traps up that fell off where his dog could get them... fortunately my son found it first..). But anything can happen... So go find the cause Inspector Clouseau!

  • your right because as the rash is getting better he is calming down, i remembered he got into some koi food i don't know how much he had eaten , but when i caught him his whole head was in the bag, just don't understand the crazy things he does when this happens, if i recorded  it you would think he went NUTS
    thanks
    for the info

Yes, so funny, Marco put his foot in a fire ant nest this morning and proceeded to climb the wall... Well the side of my car actually, I panicked, thinking he must have 50 of them in his paw an dove to swat them off.... At the finish I only found one of the suckers,.... Meanwhile when I turned around and paid attention I had 4 big bites on my foot I hadn't noticed... Tough ninnies they are....
