Thought I would introduce myself!

edited September 2013 in Forum Member Photos
Hello everyone!

So I've been a lurker for a very long time now and thought I would join in. First, everyone has gorgeous BT's and awesome posts. I've been fascinated with Bull Terriers since I first laid my eyes on one during one holiday season. Since then, I began my journey to exploring everything Bull Terrier related, even studying the breeds that have helped contribute to the egg head we know today. I currently have two hucklebutts under my roof, Jelly Bean (8years) and Cookie (15 months). Jelly Bean was a rescue, after some much needed TLC, she now looks and acts like a completely different dog. She is such a gorgeous lady, I'm happy to see her live out the rest of her years in peace. Cookie is my first full AKC registered BT, I have high hopes for her and she amazes me every day. I couldn't ask for a better companion on my weekly 6 mile hikes. I am hoping to eventually take part in conformation shows as well as possibly try out agility. Anywhoooo..... I think that was a long enough post. Hopefully I didn't bore!

  • No one is ever bored with the subject of our beloved bullies. Welcome to the forum and special Kudos to you for the rescue of JB. It takes a special heart to do that and my hat is off to you.

I'll beat Phil and the rest to the one non-negotiable regulation of the forum....lots of pictures and updates! And never hesitate to add your expertise to the discussion. I'm sure you have a special perspective having been down the rescue road.

Alright, so I was out all day, Labour Weekend and all that, but I'm second to welcome you and will, like all the rest, suck up all your stories, pics ( and tribulations) about the thing we all love most. Your kids look full of energy and we'd love to hear much more... Where are you located?

JB is my lovely old lady. When I first brought her home she hide under my desk for a week, she hated my husband and would coward to anyone who would approach her. She still has difficulty when I take her out publicly. If anyone who she doesn't know approaches her, she will coward behind me and bark. She had a severe ear infection in both of her ears, it was so bad her head was swollen. She was missing fur patches all over and had hot spots from what I'm going to assume was from being left without a bed pad or anything soft to sleep on. I won't even go into detal about her teeth.... That breath could kill a buffalo. I attached a little before and after photo, I apologize for the filter, but the orginal is on my phone that met its doom on my garage floor. You can kinda see how swollen her ears were.

    Thanks for the welcomes!

Great job on healing JB! That takes courage and patience, not to mention a big heart... The reason that so many dogs are in shelters is that most people don't have those... Or brains for that matter... I am sure she shows you her appreciatin in a hundred ways... If we can help in any way in her continued recovery let us know... How long have you had her?

  • I've had the pleasure of sharing my couch with her for a short three years, well it will officially be three years in October, but close enough. It really irks me when people can do this to any living creature, especially a BT. As far as her health now, she is in good shape. She gets her regular check up's now, something I don't think she ever had.
  • And I reiterate...a special heart it takes to do what you did for JB....she's a lovely girl!
  • Welcome to the forum!

I'm sure Jelly-Bean thanks you everyday with Bullie-Kisses for what you have done for her.

Both of your kids are beautiful!

Your actions speak so loudly I cannot hear your words.
  • Again, I want to say thanks for the warm welcomes. I am fairly new to the BT breed compared to the lot, but don't be underestimated by that! I'm a complete book worm, but I know books can only get you so far. I'm excited to look to everyone for help on any bully venture of mine, and vice versa.
  • Welcome! gorgeous bullies you've got!
  • Welcome.  Nice looking EBT's you have.  You did a great job in healing JB up.  Kudos to you.

I love them all... but particularly the first one... He looks terrifik... Is he towing that park bench all the way through Arizona?

  • No, she wasn't towing any benches! That picture was taken a couple days ago on a little rest break from a 4 mile bike ride, great way to wear her out!

Sorry! SHE!, and sorry, she doesn't look tired out at all!
    :)

  • After about 2 miles she goes from a sprint to a trot, at the very end it's more of a walk trot. She's tired for about an hour, then back to her crazy self!

Yeah! Those periods when they are "dog tired" are really peaceful and you can get a bunch of things done.... but not for long!!!

  • Just now seeing this thread.  Bless you for rescuing Jelly Bean.  Will never understand how anyone could have allowed her to get in that condition, but she has you now to fill every day with love.  Your dogs are so beautiful and look so happy.
  • Thank you exiled! I couldn't imagine life with my lovely lady Jelly Bean, she has come a long way and I'm very proud of her!
