My Loki "Valhalla's Trickster of Myth & Magic"

This is my boy Loki at about 3 1/2 months old. I'm new to showing and
bull terriers but I am wanting to learn how to show. I live in a small
area in Northern CA (Close to the Oregon boarder) so there is not too
many venues I can go to to learn. I know these aren't the best photos to go by but does he look like he has any chance at showing?

Thanks. They were just taken with my iPhone. Was kinda a calm before the storm kinda day. Since then it's been pouring. My poor boy is getting cabin fever but he doesn't like going out in the rain either. Hoping it clears up a little today or the next. My surgery is on the 30th and I'm not sure if I'll be able to take him out for at least a few days afterwards. Hopefully the pain isn't too bad.

Oh forgot to add that he's definitely looking like he's going to turn out more the stocky body type like his dad. He weighs in at about 44lbs now at almost 7 months. He's not putting weight on fast anymore and hasn't gained much hight. His breeder was guessing that he could be anywhere between 65-70lbs at full maturity but I'm betting that he will only get up to maybe 60lbs. He is starting to fill out more and can't wait to see him fully matured. Here's a picture of his tank of a dad Chumley

haha oh my gosh, what a chunk his daddy is!! Cute. I think Loki looks good for his age right now, slim, but built. I personally don't care for the rounder bullies...there's a point where it's too much! Anyway, love the beach pictures!! Love the silhouette and the reflection in the water. Hopefully you all have had a chance to get out and about now.

Chumley is only about 62lbs he's very stocky. I'm hoping that Loki only gets around 55. I love the short stocky "bull dog type" bullies like his dad. His mom is more the "Dalmatian" type. He looks like he will turn out to be a mix of the two. Here's his mama Pickles

So I put an ad up on our local Facebook classifieds yesterday to try and find someone to help me learn how to conformation show Loki. And it appears I've had some luck! She doesn't show bull terriers but shows bull dogs. Which is ok because at least I can get some hands on help with the ins and outs of showing. She's currently up in Portland showing her dogs but I'll hopefully get to meet her and get things rolling next week! I know I won't end up in the big leagues with Loki but I have to start somewhere.

Ah! those are toooo much! Now you've got him posing like he was some Hollywood movie star! They just love the woods don't they..!!. Took my two to one of the State Nature Parks that they have here that runs beside the Loxahatchee River... They LOVE it, all the trails and the smells.... brought them home for a 4PM bath... and had to wake (drag) them up for dinner and a poop, and then straight back to bed.

We were just there to burn some time while we waited for someone to get some venison together for Loki. Scored on that pickup yesterday got probably 15lbs of venison for a bit of goat cheese for trade.

It's in Northern California (Humboldt county) it's Samoa beach. Not sure if it's considered in Arcata or Eureka or what but it's in between.

There was actually quite a few people out there and we were trying to stay down the beach away from other people and their dogs as Loki doesn't have great recall yet and other peoples dogs can be unpredictable. I was actually quite annoyed that one lady let her dog off leash run straight at my dog not knowing if he was friendly or how Loki would react. Nothing happened but Loki went running off with the other dog into the waves and almost got swept out. I wasn't a very happy mama. Everything turned out ok but I wish people would take more caution before letting their dogs off leash in an uncontrolled area.

Very handsome! Where I am in CA there's around 50 dogs at the dog beach unless you go very early or late. If I let Maya off her leash who knows when I would see her again!

So here's Loki at 8 months. Anyone that's familiar with showing bull terriers please chime in. Looking for people with a trained eye to tell me what looks good about him and what's a fault. I know he doesn't have the best profile and I'm hoping with age that it gains more fill and curves a bit more. I'd post a video of his gait but I'm not sure how to do that on here.

I don't think you're going to find too many people that will chime in with any negative statements because it's a quick way to make enemies. I've made that mistake before and have vowed not to provide negativee feedback again even if it's blatantly obvious. I always tell people, read and study the breed standard. Once you know the standard really well you will have a much better idea how to identify the Pro's and Con's from any Bull Terrier. There's no such thing as a perfect Bull Terrier. You could always enter him into a show and upon completion of your class get with the judge and ask him or her their opinions.

I was asking for both negative and positive. I've had another person more familiar with the standard give me some idea. Without a well trained eye it's hard for me to tell if I'm seeing what I think im seeing. I can read over the standard a million times and still not quite understand if I'm interpreting what I'm seeing correctly because I do not have the experience to know so. I'm pretty cut off from being able to learn much hands on until the very limited shows we have in our area start up. And I would like to enter a small one here but I absolutely don't want to completely embarrass myself either lol. I'm aware that there's no such thing as a perfect dog but they strive for as close as possible. I'm also completely aware my dog has flaws And I'm sure one is his head profile and fill. Slight curl at the end of his tail and slightly gay carriage. Extra eyes especially experienced ones are helpful for pointing out his good parts as well as not so good. It also helps a lot for the future when choosing another pup which if everything goes as planned I will be adding a white female to the family and I want to make sure to learn as much as possible as Loki was a very rushed addition although very loved and most certainly won't be going anywhere. I'm more educated about the standard then I was before and far more interested in showing so Im hoping I can make a more thought out decision when the time comes. I'm ok with constructive criticism
