Easy or Hard to Train?

There's so much literature out there explaining that Bull Terriers are hard to train and bad
listeners. I find this statement to be very untrue. The Bull Terrier is a very
intelligent dog that knows what he or she can get away with. Yes, they can be stubborn
(especially when they're young) but they doesn't mean they don't know what you’re
saying to them. During the early months of training a young Bull Terrier one of
first bad habits most will try and overcome is keeping the dog from jumping on
people. Once it becomes a nuisance many will resort to scolding the dog and
doing it enough times that the dog will know it's wrong and refrain from
jumping on the owner. However, when the doorbell rings and a stranger comes
walking in the game is on! The Bull Terrier will soon discover that you won't
be quite as stern with him or her for their antics in front of company and the
new comer to the house will not be scolding the dog sternly but rather doing
the "oh my he's jumping on me." Within an instant the dog will find
out the repercussion for his bad manners were minimal and continue to demand
love and attention by the misbehaved means of jumping up on them. Many Bull
Terrier owners reading are probably saying, "Yep, my bullie did that
too." To make things worse the stranger visiting the house might be
telling you "oh, it's ok he's not bothering me" while you're trying
to train and discipline your dog. This doesn't exactly aid in the training
process and the only way you can successfully teach the dog that this is
inappropriate behavior is to take him or her away and give them a time out in
another room or their kennel. Your bullie will probably bark a little at first
but he'll soon learn he isn't going to get his way. The key is to be consistent
with disciplining your dog so they no their actions will not be tolerated. You
know it's kind of funny but you can almost read their minds when they're
looking at you after you've scolding them and you know they're saying
"ya,ya,ya...whatever I'm going to do it again if this is all the
punishment I'm going to get."

With proper training and discipline they will listen and they'll lose their evil ways. They
actually want to make you happy more than you'd ever imagine.

Bowzer is so toy driven he can learn anything if it means I want him too and there is going to be a toy as a reward. I was putting his toy in a cooler outside and i kept finding him with the dang thing after putting it away. SO I went out there and took his toy and put it in the cooler and stared at him. He stared right back. So I said to him, "well, show me how you do it genius, go get your toy!" And sure as shit he flipped it right open and took it out like he has been doing it his whole life. About 5 minutes later I had him trained by command to "open the box" and took a little video of his clever antics.

Kolohe is sooo pretty she reminds me of my girl Scarlett, they look a lot a like!! Smart as a whip that one is!

My 2 yr. Old female can let herself inside both the screen and storm door, dumb dogs no. Great story!
