The barking!!!

In the past week or so my 7-month-old female has been going on these barking rants. She will bark for 20 minutes straight. I live in a row house that has 5 units and I don't want to disturb the neighbors. A new dog recently moved in and they love each other but maybe that's part of the barking? She's not barking at Maggie may and Maggie may is not a barker. Help! Any suggestions on how to correct this?

  • Maggie may lives in my apartment, by the way and thibodaux will randomly start barking at night too. This never used to happen.
  • Apollo will bark if he hears other dogs. If its Rocky or Deuce outside he'll stand at the back door and bark even though they are 200 feet away! He'll also bark if I am watching dog training videos and those dogs bark. It totally confuses him as he thinks it's me barking!! Hahaha! If he's barking at the door I give him something to play with. Usually this nifty hide and seek treat game. It has 5 doors where you hide treats and he has to figure out how to open them for the reward. I found it at Ross for $10. Or you could try an make your own. Grab a box, throw a treat in it and watch him try and and open it. They are so food motivated it takes their minds off other things! He didn't quite understand the kongs at first, now he does and loves them.

If it's constant barking for no apparent reason which becomes annoying usually Bull Terriers will catch on to your displeasure when getting scolded and stop the nonsense. In the event it becomes a bad habit many have used the vibrating and shock collars which will most definitely stop the barking. I'm confident she'll listen to you and you wont need a training collar. You just have to be aliment about correcting her as soon as she starts barking for no reason.

  • Well ill usually grab the skin on the back of her neck firmly and say no and hold her like that until she stops. She's not very responsive to to just no unless she's getting into something she already knows she's not supposed to. Maybe once she figured out that's not okay just no will be enough.
