I do that to Cesar all the time when he is panting, ill say "SMILE!" and lift his lips up and he dont care he just wags his tail and sits there like "no,its cool, you can hold my lips if you want to"
sometimes he will even attempt to lick my fingers while im doing it-which is hillarious.
That dog needs its teeth cleaned badly-also needs a good bath!
I think just about any dog will allow you to lift their lips and to show their teeth. However, I don't think the owners were trying to show off his scissors bite and pearly white teeth. I think this was just another owner wanting to show off his "killer" dog with his monster canines and power so strong that he requires a prong choke collar and thick chain lead.
