Introduction miniEBT - Ester and human Jonas
Jonas_da
Sweden
Hello every body!
Just thought I'd introduce my self and our newly adopted Ester. We live in the west part of Sweden near the ocean.
This sweet girl just turned three. We adopted her and she has lived with us for just a week. We are slowly expanding her world so right now we are just walking the same route and keeping largely to ourselfs (if not meeting anyone on our walks or something along those lines). So far we have noticed that she loves sleeping, goes to her den at 8:30 and sleeps through the whole night. She seems to be more interested in fun and games as rewards (especially loves her tennisballs) and not food driven.
When we picked her up she was pulling alot but we have worked with this every day on every walk and she is doing alot better. She still likes to walk ahead of us (me) but when the line stretches she stops looks ahead for a while and then heads back to us wagging her tale happily.
I have some issues that I want to discuss but I will save that for later.
Looking forward to discuss (mini)EBT's with you guys.
Best regards,
Jonas, Helena & Ester (the doggy)

Ruby looks like a cool girl
Ester is a delight when inside and also outside when we are alone. But she gets very eager when we get visitors and when meeting other dogs due to her not being properly socialized. We will have to work alot on that. Except from that she is as sweet and docile as anyone could wish for. You should see her when I prepare her food. Sitting still like a statue and waiting. Full eye contact until I say go ahead for here to eat not a slip up since she moved in. We are so happy to have her but we get a little bit anxious when thinking on the socialization part. But we will let that come when it comes.
Will definitely consult this forum in the future. Seems like there is much knowledge to be found here.
Take care!
Sounds like our BT Simon. When meeting other dogs, his tail is always wagging. He gets frustrated if we do not let him approach the other dog. He barks, which makes other dog owners nervous. The only time that we have had an issue is when the other dog was way smaller than Simon. Simon gets weird and barky around much smaller dogs.
He also had never seen a small child, one day he did and tried to pull me over to investigate. He can look and sound aggressive and the mom didn't want anything to do with us. Which made Simon frustrated and barky. You just need to keep working at it and try to find large dog friends.
Jonas is my family's last name. Simon Jonas is what Simon's veterinarian calls him.
I really needed it. Today Ester threw a tantrum after not getting to say hello to a kid on the ferry landing. I felt so heartbroken when it happened. The thing is these lovely dogs look and behaves in a way that puts kids (and adults) off, Ester made a sudden move towards the kid and startled her which in turn out her of from saying hi. If they'd only know how sweet they are. Anyway I had to restrain her and when the kid walked away the madness began. Took like 5 minutes to calm my baby girl down
:-S
Then one more tantrum when coming back from the ferry and a small terrier came up from behind and started barking. Ester wanted to say hi but I didn't have the confidence in her to let her do it due to the earlier event and not knowing the small barking dog. I feel so bad for not being able to asses that for her. If this continues my confidence in myself as her role model will soon disappear.
But we will go to a trainer and work with socialization together with a professional. There is some great ones close by and it's not even expensive. Fingers crossed
Take care!
Also, we have found that we can stop an outburst by squeezing a squeaky ball. He will then focus on the ball but we then have to let him play with for at least a few minutes. The trick is hiding the ball until needed. Good luck!
Ester is a beautiful girl! Training can seem difficult bc they're stubborn, but don't give up. Your hard work will pay off
Billie is my first dog since I was a kid and my first bull terrier. This forum helped Billie and I and trained both of us
I started socializing Billie fairly early, but at a slow pace. I took her on walks to the park and would sit on a bench and have her get used to people, kids, and dogs walk by. With kids, I trained her to lay on her side.
She's friendly and submissive, but I noticed she's gets aggressive with other dogs if they bark or show any kind of aggression. I'm still working on her reaction in those situations, but she's gotten a lot better
Billie's chilling out on her side of the bed while I'm writing this message, lol
I got Ester a den from sleepy Fox. She loves it. No dog in my bed and I still know she is warm and safe
Today we met two men in the woods, they had s big fire on and where chopping down trees. Ester said hello in perfect manners. Made me so happy. The guys said she was so good, no barking, no jumping no nothing. Big confidence boost for us.
