Help please with infected blisters between toes

First of all hello and Happy New Year to all the Bull Terrier lovers out there!

I'm reading on this forum since two years, lurking around and found very helpful advice on here. My Indie is two years old, active and very friendly. I always believed she's very healthy but now i think she could have a serious allergy. Over the last few month i noticed on a few occasions that she is limping after two, three hours outdoors. We cut down on exercise and it resolved itself. Usually we are going on long walks, have been on a walking holiday to Scotland, we go to the dogs park but her favourite thing in the world is squirrel chasing. These terrible grey squirrels, they are everywhere. She goes mental, jumps very high and is clearly in OCD mode. Limping episodes often start after a long squirrel chase.

Over last few days she was slightly limping too but yesterday morning i noticed she is very red between two toes on her left front leg and over the next few hours blisters developed. I called an emergency vet, she could see us in the evening. By that time the paw was bleeding, Indie had hardly moved since the morning, was lethargic and refused food. The vet gave her an antibiotic injection, Carprieve and a supply of Clavudale to take home. She said, if the paw isn't better by Wednesday, they need to operate to investigate what's "higher up"? I was asking if the condition is called Interdigital Furunculosis because i read that on here. She said vaguely that could develop if untreated. I also asked for an appointment for an allergy test. Vet said i need to go to our usual vet because they don't do it in their clinic. I will do that first thing on Tuesday morning, tomorrow is a bank holiday in the UK.

The night was horrible, Indie was whining, still refusing food and even water! She doesn't want to go out although now would be her toilet time too. She never, ever showed any signs of pain before and she had to have some nasty procedures: Tooth extraction because of infected tooth caused by wood splinters (they found them at the root of a big molar), infection after spaying, removal of infected dew claw. She was also in treatment for some strange blisters with rusty discharge near her vulva. This went on for month and all the bedding was constantly stained. Lots of antibiotics, washing lotions and antihistamins. Last October she was in treatment for itchy ears. It was not ear mites because we are using Advocat anyway but the vet said some infection and gave her one more time antibiotics and an ear cleaner.

I also noticed Indie isn't too keen on food. We have tried different premium brands and switched because she even goes off her favourite food very quickly. Now she gets Forthglade Chicken mixed with Forthglade wet food. Although grain free i have to admit Indie is begging for my sandwiches all the time and i give her little pieces. I know that makes every grain free diet useless and i have stopped doing it yesterday.

I am so confused, only at home i realised i didn't ask if and how i can walk Indie, if i should bath the paw. I'm now shaking myself and so afraid this infection could develop into sepsis. Is that possible? I didn't manage to take proper fotos, will try later and post more in daylight. The paw looks far worse now, very swollen too and there's bloody discharge.

Thanks so much for reading this long post.

    Hello again,
Poor Indie I know what you’re going through and many of us know.
I had this same issue regarding paws with Moose. What a long road not 100% but at least he can enjoy being a dog. I’m currently trying to sus out skin issues, constant work.
I did an online saliva allergy test as this was affordable. The vet would send me to a specialist with a cost of $2k upwards.
This allergy result will give you a basic list of nasty triggers which I based my current diet on. Moose had heaps of triggers so I’m only giving raw and not a variety but lots of supplements to aid his immune system. I cannot get nuvet as suggested by Steve so this was only option trial n error. Moose paw isn’t perfect it can flare up but I use colloidal silver in spray form for many issues. On sore feet, ears and a capful in their drinking water.
I don’t go to the vet re feet issues as I did the antibiotics and washes etc but that only lasts short term which I’m sure you’ve read.
An allergy test would be the beginning to getting on top of this. I did buy bag balm but I’m lazy in using it. But I do like the CS topically to reduce flareups. I too had to ease exercise until I got it under control.
You have many overusing issues sorry to hear. Would Indie like a bone broth? It will help with her energy whilst she’s recovering. Easy to make. Just like chicken soup for us when we’re unwell.
Keep us updated and hope you get some relief. Oh I used easy.dna online for my allergy test :)
  • Enzina77Enzina77 London, UK
Thank you so much for your reply @jur45 ! I was reading quite a few of your posts about your lovely Moose and got an idea what that all is in the first place. The bone broth is a good idea too, will try later. Today she has eaten a few bits but strangely only out of my hands.

I was reading so much on here about bullies not tolerating chicken. I will call our vet tomorrow morning to speak about costs of allergy tests and go from there. Today Indie could manage a little walk and was enjoying it very much. The paw looks a lot better but very red still and i'm not sure if there is still a filled blister. She ate little bits of her dry food but only out of my hand.
I will keep you updated, thanks again and good, good luck for Moose!

    Hello again
I’m glad indie is showing signs of improvement. Make your bone broth eliminating chicken bones go with beef and lamb. You’ll find simple dog recipes online very simple to do. Is she still on antibiotics? That will help with the infection on her paws but if you have benodine at home you can put some on the blister too. I buy colloidal silver, benodine from chemist warehouse if you have this over there. My allergy test from memory was around $200. You may have online company in UK who could offer this for an alternative to your vet. I too have sourced online vet pharmacy who’ll supply meds with prescription from your vet which is substantially cheaper too. It’s amazing what you can find online. Wishing you both a quick outcome. I am still trying to conquer my ‘castration’ issue with my boys. Fingers crossed it will work out. Currently waiting on DNA results to move forward. I too sourced this online which is a simple mouth swab :)

Thanks again @jur45 , you are such a star! Indie is still on antibiotics, yes. The course will end on the 7th of Jan. I will try to get such a cream here. Last time i asked at the chemist for a similar cream containing Iodin i was told by the chemist they are all sold out because of the delivery problems from the EU, Brexit has caused incredible damage to the supply chain here.
Anyway, i will find a way. I get all my vet meds from an online vet anyway but since i needed the meds for Indie straightaway of course i had to pay the full (bank holiday) for everything. So things are ALWAYS happening on a weekend or at night and we have to pay double price.
Well, i was thinking a lot over the last few days how to get to the bottom of Indie's problem and found out many of the home tests for allergies are just not reliable. I think i will go back to the vet i had years ago. He is incredible and i would just see always the same guy. he's Australien by the way! Usually we are now going to a Uni clinic but always see different vets or even locums. I did a lot of research and found out most of the vets are not doing allergy tests anyway and particular so called allergy clinics are charging horrendous prices anyway. I will call my old vet later on, he will guide me in the right direction. Reason i left him years ago was he is even more expensive than average vets here in London.
OMG, i was reading about the castration issue with your incredible boys too and couldn't really understand it. WHY do they HAVE to be castrated? I have never heard about anything like that. I myself neuter all my animals but i'm friends with lots of people who think like you and it's ok!! Why?
Greetings from an icy London and good luck to you and the boys.

Sorry, reading back my posts i saw i've made some mistakes. My forst language is German, i'm Austrian living here in London and totally forgot to say that indie is doing so much better! She's full of beans again, started eating again.
@jur45 please could i ask you another thing? Indie is clearly suffering from OCD, i'm working on it so hard. She is extremely hooked on Kong Squeezit balls and i had to take them away from her because she is just chewing them. She would lie down, rub them extremely hard against her paws, sometimes till she's bleeding.. To my shame i have to admit i gave in again shortly before the last paw episode. She would bring it back, run like crazy but then she would start the chewing bit again. Previously she had even bitten me a few times by mistake. Do you think that could have caused the infected paw? Maybe but that wouldn't explain the little blisters around her vulva. The vets also told me to put a cone on her head but she is going totally crazy when i put it on and run on purpose into furnitures and walls.
  • jur45jur45 australia
    Hey my mum is Austrian!

I’m glad you have a good old vet you can get back in touch with, they’re hard to come by but once you e found one I’d stick with him. I truly cannot say I have. The one I use, seldomly, was so I could get a temporary exemption re castration originally. And with the allergy testing, this would be referred to a specialist in which full allergy testing would be highly expensive and I couldn’t afford this route. I was assured the online testing was accurate for what they cover. You could go on and on with testing but this is a great start for the main culprits. They’re will always be environmental and seasonal triggers but if their immune system is in top notch, they wouldn’t be severe is my take on this.

Yes our councils are tyrannical with their laws. I’m choosing to not castrate for their health unless necessary. I hope for my boys I can succeed.

You know, I have wondered myself with allergies to toys/rubber/plastic etc……I’d persist and put it away and see if any skin improvements. You’ll just have to find another happy toy. My boys are triggered with their sticks which I use in our walks. They are very disciplined when I have anything to play with in my hand. They didn’t even care for a bitch in heat :p
I brought a very long (looks like a door draft sausage) cannot think of the name, like a long thick rope from Kmart $10? And they love tugging on this. I sometimes stuff several old socks with leftover crunchy crinkly biscuit packaging (anything noisy) for them to mutilate. Remember to use say three or more socks to keep the wrapping inside, tie knots in either end and let her play. Once she’s succeeded in getting to the plastic you’ll have to take it away ;) maybe give her a carrot or apple treat to do this if she’s stubborn. I also used to give them empty clean soft drink bottles, label and top removed to mutilate. It’s noisy too. Once it’s torn you have to remove too. These are little short life novelties only. It depends how much time you have to supervise your Indie lol
Our weather here is not super hot for summer so very bearable for the boys. I live close to the beach so they get early swim n walk for 2hours which is what I can give them. They could do with the afternoon walk but it’s a time challenge for me.

Oh the benodine is the dark brown solution in a 500ml bottle but you’re vet would have this I’m sure just more expensive.

Keep us all updated as we learn from each other and there are many informative tips to try and pass on xxx
  • Enzina77Enzina77 London, UK
OMG, thanks for the rapid answer! I can't believe your mum is Austrian. Small world. :)
I just checked my medical cupboard and i even found some iodin cream and even some plasters with iodin on it. I got this from the chemist for myself when Indie bit me accidently in the breast! I was sweeping the balcony and she jumped on the broom, attacked it and when i took it away she wanted it back and bit me. :-O
I can believe your two boys are having fun when playing tug of war. I had two staffie/pitbull crosses (the last girl died last July) and they entertained themselves for hours every day. Thanks so much for your tips on toys, will try that later.

Am i understanding it correctly that the council wants you to castrate the boys? Is there a law? We don't have that here. Only if you want to use the animal charity vets which cost a fraction of the tariff of a private vet clinic. Still, i even know people using this clinics when dog breeding! Don't know how they do it. Usually pensioners, disabled or unemployed people can use this charities. they used to be totally free but now i believe they are charging a small amount.
I hope you are successful, all the best!
  • jur45jur45 australia
Your poor boob, I’m lucky I don’t have enough to bite #:- my fingers have had many a chomp as I play with the stick jumping activity and boy can my bullies jump and back flip lol they are amazing!! I need a go pro or similar to capture their snapping jaws and body gymnastics - those snapping jaws are like little crocs a little terrifying :#

Yes a lot of our councils are full blown mafia and they deem all owners irresponsible with intact animals that are not justified, one law their way and no exceptions. Temporary sterilisation implant or vasectomy wouldn’t be accepted. They do not care for the health of the animal clearly. Just as hard as an exemption for the V in the animal world and the vets are all towing the line. You’re lucky you aren’t enforced there. It should be up to you to decide on your pets health outcomes.

So you still have one other dog? Or is Indie your only pet now?
Memphis is a bit naughty with our cat. If I don’t distract his attention on the cat he’ll become focused and will pounce and oh not so nice :s but he listens when told to back off.
Nice talking again and let’s hope for positive outcomes all round :)
  • Enzina77Enzina77 London, UK
    Hiya again,

This is crazy that there is a law to neuter all the pets!

I like the term snapping crocodile jaws, that summs it up! Now i have only Indie. The staffies died in 2019 and 2021. They were so sweet and obedient. We had a cat too, he was the boss.
Indie goes for cats if she sees one in the street but our dog sitter has a cat and Indie leaves her alone.
I have ordered all the stuff you listed above from Amazon prime and will use the spray before the foot problem escalates again.

Well, i have to go to the dentist now and will lock Indie in the kitchen.
    Best wishes
  • jur45jur45 australia
Good luck at the dentist, another pricey appointment ;)
indie must be a good girl all alone in the kitchen????????
I gather she’s eating better now.
We gave wild stormy rainy weather forecasted so I’m unsure how I’ll go walking if thunderstorms should arise, moose is very scared of thunder and can scoot off, not so good. I’ll let you know how I go :)
  • Enzina77Enzina77 London, UK
Thanks so much! The dentist appointment was ok and not expensive.

Has the thunderstorm arrived already? Where in Australia are you based? I have very good friends in Melbourne, they are originally from Cairns. Met them here in London when we were all working for the NHS. So, so sorry that Moose is so scared. Poor baby. Indie is really good on her own. From the age of 13 months to 18 months i used a crate because she damaged everything in the kitchen. I did put away the bin, the flowers, plants, broom, dustpan etc each time before i went out but then she damaged the kitchen chairs, shredded 6 aprons i forgot to take off the back of the kitchen door and the radiator knob. Once she even dragged out the washing powder, chewed the box and managed to open a big bottle of fabric conditioner. When i got home i needed to move all the appliances and mop everywhere at least five times. That's when i bought the crate. She liked it but since it was 32" big, strong crate it was in my way all the time and i got rid of it.

So, now she is fine in the kitchen. When i got home she started again licking the paws constantly. In my despair i put some bitter apple spray on it, now she has stopped. I can still see she is in great discomfort, tossing and turning when sleeping. Strangely she now often tries to get to her back or the tail and half spins. Usually she never spins but she is jumper! Whenever i have visitors or if we are visiting or even at the dog sitter she is jumping on tables and window sills. I was in Austria in October and she has damaged the wooden blinds at the sitter. She jumped on the windowsill because workman were working outside and winding her up. They found it hilarious!! They even knocked at the her door and told her what an amazingly funny dog she has..

Oh, sorry for the long post. You surely have other things to do than reading my posts! I nearly forgot to mention that i called the new/old vet Dale yesterday. He said i should finish treatment in the other clinic and then bring her in but i could start with the elimination diet straightaway. He said, just like you pointed out, getting to the root of this problem is a long way to go. Fortunately he has some experience with BTs. He also said not to agree with surgery because the other clinic will call me today and in case the paw isn't better they wanna operate "to see what's up there". He also doesn't really approve of home allergy tests. He doesn't do this tests but could refer me to a skin specialist.

I fell in love with BTs when i met my best friend Pat. Her dog Ty was 9 then and suffering incredible from allergy/skin problems. He was for the last years of his life on steroids and was in agony. I attach a picture of him when he was 10. Unfortunately Pat always gave in and fed him treats like crazy. Ty used to bang his massive head on his treats cupboard again and again, would have done it for hours if she wouldn't have locked him out of the kitchen. he was constantly so hungry because of the steroids.

Anyway, have a good evening or afternoon and good luck!

    Hello????
What a beautiful boy Ty is….rest his soul
You would’ve read the cycle of meds isn’t fit their good but it is hard work.

And you gave some stories to tell and I’m sure some interesting language would’ve come out whilst discovering Indie’s playtime
    mess :#
I’ve never had to deal with such I’m lucky I guess that I am home or my partner is to supervise any mischievous thoughts.

I’m on the Mornington peninsula. Been here over 20 years it’s lovely.

I really do hope you uncover Indies allergy triggers to make her comfortable. I’m in the process of elimination to help with facial discolouration especially on Memphis. His paws are a bit itchy too especially if he’s bored.

Are you a nurse by chance?

Thankyou for writing and never worry about the long posts. <3
  • Enzina77Enzina77 London, UK
    Hi Sarah,

Wow, you are living in such a beautiful area! I had a look online, your boys must be so happy there. Indie has only ever seen the beach once, she loved it but prefers forests. I guess because there are no grey squirrels on the beach. :))

No, i'm not a nurse. Back then when i first met my Australian friends in 2003 we were working in admin. I later worked as drugs worker doing social work but unfortunately we and all the other detox facilities around us lost the funding and had to close down.. Now i'm doing an unsatisfying job working from home.

How is Moose doing? You are really doing everything you can do! I do find it frustrating and scary. On the walk today i met a guy with a red seven month old EBT and he has exactly the same problem. His little boy is now since four weeks on antibiotics and steroids. It was so touching to see this young man on a bicycle with a kind of dog rucksack on his back. The bullie's front paws were on the guys shoulders and he was wearing white little socks.

Someone from the vet clinic i had used on New Years day called today to ask about Indie. Again a different vet. He said i should carry on bathing the paw, finish the tablets and he'll call again in three days. I bet nobody will call before Monday! I won't go back there anyway.

It's also great you are sharing the whole duties with your partner, must be great to live with another EBT lover. I'm on my own, nearly 60 and find it often a bit hard.

Have a good day, here it's already dark. I will soon retire to the sofa.

That’s an adorable photo, happy lot x three!

Moose had many a times bathing soaking feet in malaseb solution, he dreaded the bath and doesn’t forget those long boring soaks.
I probably should do this but it’s not pleasurable for either of us. I’ll upload some pics and you can see the rusty discolouration on their heads which is so hard to diagnose.

Working from home at least gives you more time with Indie, she loves it I’m sure. I’m no spring chicken either but they keep us young ;)

Just had our long walk n swim and we got drenched but as long as we’re playing with our sticks they don’t mind. We successfully passed the tractor (cleanup tractor) off leash with no problems again. When they were younger they would try to chase it, scary for me and the driver. Now they are focused on my magic stick so I’m more confident.

Let’s hope Indie gets better and you won’t have to due another course of antibiotics but if it’s a deep infection they may advise you to do this. Moose went down this road as I did want him to suffer and get worse but it didn’t solve any issues in my circumstance. Diet was the key here.

We are informed of meat shortages and I worry as my boys only eat raw meat.
I had to get dry food as some sort of backup but I do not know if it’ll agree but I found one with minimal extras just in case. They have to eat :)

    All the best

    Hi again dear Sarah,

All of your pictures are so amazing and the boys are stunning indeed! Are they taken in your yard? If yes, the boys are in paradise for sure. I don't think i have ever seen such a discolouration on a BT's head but will pay attention from now on. Wow, what a super life your boys are having. When you say you play with the magic stick do you mean a Kong stick by any chance? I just bought a Kong safestix but am afraid to give it to Indie now. Someone in the dogs park has one and Indie played with it with other dogs before. Of course she's getting totally obsessed but never, ever goes for a dog when taken away from her. She is even giving up when dogs would take away her ball. I'm now too afraid to give it to her because of the bad paw.

I find it absolutely super that both Moose and Memphis are able to pass the tractor. Bravo!! I really know what achievement that is. Indie tends to go for all the brooms the sweepers around here are using. If we go across the road in the very gentrified part of the borough they are sweeping around the clock. Many of this people don't find it funny at all.

This morning i saw another pus leaking wound between Indie's toes and could cry. You are right Sarah, we will need another course of antibiotics. Yesterday i made a sock to put on her foot during the day and ordered boots for outside. The vet did advise i could use the dressings "if i want to", another vague advise.

II have received the colloidal silver but to my great disappointment it seems to be ionic because the liquid is clear. For £13 i believed it's the proper stuff. I have complained to the (French lab) company, put it on their FB page and have left a 1 star Amazon review which isn't approved of yet. I was reading anyway i can't use it whilst using antibiotics. I'm bathing Indie's foot now in Epsom salt solution, on the beginning i have used Hibiscrub.

I'm so tired and exhausted. Indie has kicked me all over for the best part of the night. She's restless, frustrated and itching all over and seems to be in pain. Every night i get up before 3am because i'm not able to get back to sleep. Maybe i should try to see my new/old vet Dale today? I also believe there were problems with the paw even many month ago when i believed she has just pulled a muscle when overexercising. I did always inspect the paws but there was nothing to see.

    Greetings from cold, windy London!
    Love to Moose and Memphis

Forgot to say: The picture of Indie and me at the vet (Uni clinic) is from six month ago when they have removed Indie's dew claw because she ripped it partly off)

The white BT in the picture is 4 yrs old, punk rocker Stephano recued her from a back yard a year ago. She had never played with dogs before, never felt grass under her paws and she's fine and happy now!

The old girl in the picture is Angel, she died a few month later. I miss her so, so much.

    Hello again Irene,
First off I would send another discussion on Indies paws and see if someone else has further advice to give you. Maybe you’ll get new responses too. Are you supplementing with Nuvet? I cannot get it here in Australia, I just asked them again and NO they don’t send here. I’m sure you know this is highly recommended for our bullies. Secondly I personally wouldn’t bandage her foot but if advised by the vet or if it’s oozing, bleeding, if there is a medication not to be consumed, to stop her biting licking her foot, I can see why it may be necessary. Let her paw breathe during the night if you can.

The discolouration on the skin or coat on my boys is a rusty colour which I’m sure is allergy related. Memphis has started to limp more today. Both my boys have had limp issues but moose is good and Memphis is on and off. Another concern for me to watch.

When I say magic stick…..it can be anything I put in my hand! A 5”stick to a full blown branch….they are my command ;) This is what ‘magic’ is all about. Know what your bully likes and use it to your advantage.
They are performers of jumps, twirls, flips n all pending on how exciting the object looks. They search with me for anything on the beach. If it’s spikey I say ‘ouchy no good let’s looky looky’ and we keep on searching.
If I don’t have a trusty stick on hand and they get a look on someone I say ‘keep walking’
They know to go up the embankments by ‘up up’ they will sit n stay till I count 3,2,1 go and run to me. And if I’m gossiping they’ll wait patiently till I’m ready….most of the time.

You have a few bullies around I can see from the pics. I noticed the punk rocker Stephano :D there aren’t many bullies around here. Hence I get a lot of attention. Mostly good. The staffy in the picture looks like my mums dog, so similar. Yes my pics are my front yard, I’m very lucky to see this everyday.

What do you mean ionic colloidal silver? Take a photo of it please, I’m curious too.
Epsom salts will be great too.

Today was thundery, wet, sunny and humid.
I slept in so I missed the beach walk but I tried the creek walk in which they weren’t happy. It was too hot in there. At least on the beach they can swim and cool down when needed. Hopefully tomorrow I’ll ride up nice and early :)
    Take care xx

Thank you so much again, Sarah!

I'm just waiting for calls back from both vets now. It really looks so, so lovely where you're living! Your boys seems to understand your commands and strategies remarkably well. That's so cool.

Indie had to have a tooth removed last year because it was infected and dead by the time we found out. They found at the roots of the big molar wood splinters. :-& =D>

i only found out by googling that my colloidal silver is more or less useless. I have copied what i found:

The color of colloidal silver gives you a clue about its quality. It’s always surprising to take some colloidal silver out of the bottle and find it’s brown! Brown doesn’t exactly make you think of silver!

But most colorless products sold as “colloidal silver” are likely ionic silver.

True colloidal silver needs an extra step in the manufacturing process. Adding a reducing agent (usually a sugar solution) and heating it turns it into colloidal silver. Then it will be yellow or brown colored … as true colloidal silver should be.

Anyway, best greetings to all you

OMG, drummer in a punk rock band!! That's so cool.

Anyway, we've been to the vet clinic yesterday, they gave us more antibiotics and painkillers and scheduled surgery for Wednesday afternoon. They want to see "what's up there". I can still think about it if we should go ahead or not. Maybe i will start a new thread on FB, i have joined the Strictly BullTerrier group there too.

Yes, Stefano is still singing in a punk rock band. He used to work in one of the iconic record stores in Camden Town. Of course it has closed down long time ago. good old days. :((

    Hello Irene
Sorry to hear Indie may be needing op but maybe you should repost here and FB and ask Steve on this platform direct for advice. Your original post may have got lost with all our chats. Try again for a response from Steve. He’ll be the best to advise before op.
Hope for some good advice Irene.
Live the pic of you two, missing the sunshine there. Xx

    Hi Sarah,

Oh wow, another fantastic foto of the boys! Hopefully they are doing fine.

Can you believe that Indie's toes are healing? At the moment i can't even see one sore spot between the toes. I will wait till Tuesday and then cancel the surgery. We are so, so careful and i religiously bath the foot twice the day with Epsom salt for at least 10 minutes. It's so difficult but i found a way she lets me do it. I fill a big plastic cup with the salt solution and let her stand or sit on the kitchen table and put her paw in it. That way it's softer on my back as well.

    I will keep you updated!

    xx Irene

This is priceless….she’s so obliging and they are good dogs to work with in such scenarios lol what ratio of Epsom salts do you use for such a cup? I’m so glad it’s healing. Avoid surgery if you can.
My boys just finished their two hours of non stop jumping swimming on the beach. They were super happy to be there today as they missed out yesterday. One stick survived the whole trip. Also, all our colloidal silver is clear, just wanted to mention this.
    Keep loving Indie <3 <3

Swimming would be soo great! The boys can swim in salt water, that's so great. We don't have that here, have to wait for the summer. I wish i could watch your boys.

The company producing the colloidal silver has written to me, telling me they are using bigger particles, that's why it's clear blabla. I don 't used it anyway as long as Indie is on antibiotics. I just put two big teaspoons in the cup.

    All the best xx

    Hello Irene
    How’s Indie today?
    Hope she’s improving still.
Our pussycat cat got run over this morning.
Poor boy was a true cat probably chasing rats in gutters across the road. We live on a Highway so it’s tricky. He was 13 1/2yo and a beautiful boy, here’s Chino xxx

    Hiya Sarah,

OMG, poor, poor Chino! i'm so sorry, you must be heartbroken. What a beautiful boy he was, We had a ginger cat when my staffies were still alive and he was the boss. Your two boys are so good, i'm sure they were loving to Chino. Surely they miss him too.

Indie is as good as new =D>, that's so great. The wound bits have completely gone, i just hope there's nothing nasty inside. Today i will cancel the surgery and i so much hope it doesn't come back. Should it come back i will go to Dale from the beginning on.

Yesterday she was incredible naughty. We went to a beautiful big park where she usually stays inside although the doors are open. She saw a few squirrels and went completely crazy, barking and squealing. One of the squirrels was running on the fence, so Indie was running outside on the pavement on a busy road. I myself can't run fast, couldn't catch up. Two other dog walkers and me chasing after her, trying to bribe her with squeaky balls etc but no luck. Due to the uncalculated running i also had a hypo (i have T1 diabetes), needed to stop and take some fast sugar, i could have killed her and was nearly in tears. All the other people in the park witnessed it, some of them hate so called "fighting dogs" anyway. One of these women had just told me a few days ago i should please take Indie on the lead and not disturb her daily run. After asking why i should do this and explaining Indie is not interested in the slightest in her but the squirrels, she said spiteful :" ..because of the breed.." now i'm double embarassed. This all happened after i had just booked our late spring holiday to the Scottish Highlands on the very expensive sleeper train.

Anyway, all my love to you. I feel for you and your family, thinking of you. Give the boys a big hug from me and kisses from Indie.
    xx

    Hello Irene
So glad indie is herself again and cheeky ;) we’ve all experienced the panic, dog racist people :s and it was unfortunate to hear you had problems too. Don’t worry too much about it as we’ve all been there. People can be nasty. You’ll have to shut the gates next time but they can jump high if they are triggered by such a creature. Stay calm you’ll be fine and I’m so happy the Epsom salts did the trick. You’ll see if it comes back as she’s probably near finished the antibiotics or is finished. Still too early to say if it will reappear but keep up the salt washes even every several days.
It’s very hot, boys aren’t happy now.
    Take care xxx
  • Indie's a beauty! I love all the pics of her! I hope she's feeling better :)

Thanks so much @Billie_Tina ! So is your Billie, what a sweet girl. Your pictures are great and your nieces are lovely girls!

Indie's paws seem to have healed completely, the vet still wants to see her on Monday.
  • Thank you! And I'm so glad to hear she's all better :)

    Hello Irene
Are you on holiday now? How’s Indie and her foot? My moose has an infected toe. How long did you soak with acv? Or was it salt?
    Hope you’re both well :)
  • Enzina77Enzina77 London, UK
    Hello dear Sarah @jur45,
I'm so sorry your Moose now has an infected toe. Poor boy. =((
Indie is still absolutely fine. No limping, no sores. I did bath her paw in Epsom salt, used about half a table spoon in the cup and she had to stand in it for at least five minutes. Longer would have been better but she wouldn't have it.

I so much hope your poor boy is getting better quickly, so much feel for all of you. :(

Greetings from a stormy London xx

    Hello :)
Glad you are doing well in stormy London.
Indie looks perfectly healthy. Moose’ paw is better today so fingers crossed it’s on the mend! I will buy some Epsom salts to bathe it tomorrow.
I am still waiting for council tick of approval and then I will upload a post to let all know how I went. Walking at 5.30am as I have to be back by 7.30 for the school run. It is dark so I have to do footpath walking and then when I can see I head on over to the beach. Cannot wait for March then I can walk when I like. Say hello to Stephano!
It’s been so hot n humid but today is lovely and it’s raining now.
    Speak again soon xx

    Hi there Sarah,

I'm so glad Moose' paw is a bit better! Strangely Indie is avoiding walking on rubble or any uneven bits of the pavement. Roads and pavements are very bad here, we also do a lot of road walking. In the park Indie is just standing and staring at the trees waiting for squirrels.

OMG, you are out so early every day. Indie is so lazy, doesn't want to get up before 8 or 9 am.
Thanks for the hello to Stephano, will tell him.

    Best wishes xx
  • Enzina77Enzina77 London, UK
Oh sorry! the pictures are stunning!
  • jur45jur45 australia
Hey Irene. Moose is fussy where he walks too! Hates puddles, pebbles even though the beach is fine. I don’t walk on pavements much as to not hinder their intermittent limp. I walk bare feet so I know how rough some surfaces are on them.
Yes so early….it was darker this morning and there’s no one around so I’m on guard too.
Boys still search for their branches/sticks even in the dark but I’m not playing high jump when I cannot see well as to not get my fingers injured with their jaws ;)
I’ve encountered cats in the beach but they are good. Memphis is the more triggered one if I don’t keep him distracted.
I hope the weather improves for you there.
    Stay safe :)

    Dear Sarah,
Hope you and the boys are ok? How is Moose's paw?
Stefano says hi to you as well, i have told him about the paw problem. His girl Snorty doesn't have any of those problems. She's pretty much overweight now, people ask him if she's pregnant. :))
Indie is well but in the meantime she had tonsillitis. That is crazy, so many infections in such a short time. I'm inspecting the paw every day, there are still no sores but i have noticed blood spots again on the bedding. I have no idea (again) where that comes from. I check everywhere constantly and can't find anything.

The picture is from yesterday, she loves being in our friend Hassan's flat and play with the kids.
    \

    Anyway, have a great day/afternoon/evening.
    xx Love from London

    O hello Irene :)

I've been thinking of you all too!
Did you see my post on the success I had with my council re desexing? Well I'm a content proud owner that doesnt have this stress anymore. I am washing both boys feet in Epsom salts but I struggle to sosk long enough. It certainly helps. I think they suffer from yeast infection and this is hard to overcome. I've changed their diet which isn't ideally balanced but the rusting/fur issues have lessoned but I know they need more nutrition but I'm at a loss as what to incorporate as anything sugary (fruits/veggies) can feed the yeast so I've cut back in a huge way. I've eliminated most supplements which I hate but their energy kevels haven't subsided which is good. I am taking it slow but I know they need something. I've enquired to Steve regarding Nuvet supplements which I can't get here.
    We'll get there eventually.

Have you checked indies teeth for any irritated gum/teeth regarding the blood? Is she desexed Irene?
It is a bither. Does she sleep with you, if so maybe you are bleeding somewhere lol I know I have scratches and play/stick wounds everywhere ;)
Sorry to hear about tonsilitis, she is keeping you busy!

I had an awful encounter on the beach. There was s body found in the water along the shoreline this morning around 6. I passed just before and didn't see anything, strange. How could I miss him. Wandering if he was out there after I passed? I saw the police on my way back. Very dark for me at 5.30 am but the street isn't much better. Its still too hot in the day for the street and I have to wait till April to go daytime on the beach. One more month to go.

Hello to all, take care xxx
    Lovely photo!
  • Enzina77Enzina77 London, UK
    Hi Sarah,
Wow, congratulations on winning the battle with the council!! What an achievement, you are awesome, hurray.

I had problems with achieving really long soaks with Indie too, she hates it, i hate it but it works for now.

So sorry you had this experience with the body on the beach. How weird, how scary. So good the boys didn't see it!

There is no way i'm bleeding somewhere, i'm sleeping with thick pj's and i can find the most spots on Indie's sofa in the front room and i'm never sitting there. I have taken her to the vet because she made this strange sounds with her mouth and believed she has a bad tooth again. They checked her and then they told me teeth and gums are fine but she has tonsillitis.

Here in London we had some scary gales with winds up to 120 m/ph. That was NEVER before.
I hope it's gettinger cooler soon in your part of the world.

    Take care xxx
  • jur45jur45 australia
Well at least you're OK and you'll discover the reason for the blood I'm sure, my hunch its from her mouth ;)

Those winds would blow me away!

My boys were extremely good with my trusty wand they do not falter to investigate anything even whilst the police took my details. Bravo moose n memphis :p

Here's an arty photo as I'm playing around with effects. I hope it uploads OK xx

    Dear Sarah,
Sorry i haven't been in touch so long! Hope your sweet boys are fine.
Indie has caused me a slipped disc and i'm in enormous pain. Oh well, there is always something else..
(Not so) funny thing is Stefano has exactly the same, he is even limping more than me. His Snorty got attacked in the dogs park from an American Bulldog puppy, unbelievable. Snorty has a bite mark on the cheek now.
Indie is totally fine, no new infections or other illnesses.
But the really, really exciting thing is my neighbour and friend went yesterday to get him a new puppy!! Hassan and his wife were always in love with Indie, borrowed her for a few hours. Their sons aged 6 and 10 love her so much too. Indie's both parents had just a litter when i messaged her breeder to show him a magazine clip about Indie. She was voted Star Pet of the March/April issue of the Sixtypluservers magazine. I couldn't believe when we all agreed to take the next train and buy THE MOST BEAUTIFUL AND CALM Bull Terrier. His name is Albi, he settles in within nano seconds, using the puppy mat and is sooo gentle with the boys. Today i'm invited for dinner at their house, can't wait to see them all. Albi reminds me so much of your boys. :x
Lots of love, kisses to your boys xx

    Hello irene :)
I got your message through my email not on my phone as i always have the forum uploaded on my homescreen for msg??? I don't know whats playing up....my new phone perhaps. U posted a pic three times oops, thought it didn't work as I get error msg. I haven't seen any new posts of late. Can you see my post?
Sorry to hear about your back. Its hard when your body is out of action especially with a dog that needs entertaining and exercise.
I hope Stefano, yourself and Snorty get back on track quickly. Awful to encounter dog attacks however minor they are. My boys can get into a grumble and the grumble comes from me big time to intervene lol no sweet stuff when I'm not happy with teenage behavior :D
Still issues with skin n feet but they run, swim play on the beach everyday with ample energy never the less.
Lovely to hear about Indie being the 'star pet' bravo and to you too!!!! Can't wait to see Albi amongst your next pics.
Best wishes to your growing bully family xxxx
