You've only had him a couple of days so it'll take weeks maybe months for him and your family to adjust to the new life style. Not going to happen over night. Just my opinion.

First, thank you so much for adopting!! I have a rescue BT and it took about 2 months to get into a groove with her. She was young and wild which was why her original owners dumped her at the shelter. I used this site for advise on all types of issues (training & skin issues). BT's are a lovable handful and aren't the easiest type of dog. However, they will entertain you and love you. Your kids are pretty young and will be knocked over (assuming that has happened already). We had to work out our BT 2 times a day which helped with her energy. Keep reading the posts on this site and it will help you. Good luck & thanks again for providing a loving home to your gorgeous BT!image

Glad to hear Maverick is beginning to settle into your family. I'm sure he's so happy to have a loving home! I bought dog nose sun screen call "my dog nose it" from I think Amazon or Chewy. It works very well and my BT has lots of skin issues so I would recommend it. Ruby (our BT) loves Jolly Balls, especially the one that has a ball w/ in a ball or the one with a rope attached (pic attached) She goes nuts for them. She also likes chewing bones and antlers which helps sooth her. She chews every night. Ruby also loves boxes! she tears them up. We let her rip them up and then clean up the scattered pieces as she will try to eat them. Lastly, she loves to play tug or war. I bought her a rope that she loves to use and tug on. I have to put it away after playing as she tries to eat through the rope..... never a dull moment, it's really like having a toddler again :)

You could try to leash him while around the kids. It really takes a ton of time. but eventually, he will understand what you expect. But they are full on with most human interaction. So the leash being on while around company is a good starter too. They adore humans and attention, so they do everything they can to get it. We have friends that don't like our girl McKenzie because she is so hyper with company. I tell them to stay home. This is her house too, just give her 5 minutes to get her excitement out. :)

    Hello
That ball looks like fun amongst the other toys you mention…..the cardboard box. Know about that lol
When the postie comes, instead of the big bark ‘intruder’ alert, my boys get excited to head to the gate to carry the parcel (depending how fragile it is of course) so now they don’t ballistic at the postie or courier ;)
Yes boomer I have family that don’t like dogs :s and I too agree they’re part of the family so enter with caution (of course I do the responsible pet owner thing) but dogs sense the unfriendly nervousness around them and me too, not very comfortable. Hence I don’t have many visitors.

Keep up the great work loving our bullies xx
