Puppy aggression

Hi, I’ve just found this forum and hoping to get some advice on dealing with aggression in my 20 week ebt.
Generally he’s a very good dog, he’s fully toilet trained, he’s crate trained and happily sleeps in there all night and naps there during the day.
We don’t have any problems with his eating, he gets plenty of exercise and he’s great around people and other dogs.
The only problem we have is that he’s suddenly become dominant and possessive around my wife. If he’s sitting beside her and I go near him he starts to growl and gets ready to bite. I’ve tried pinning him but he doesn’t submit and sounds like the Tasmanian devil and gets worse the longer it goes on.
He’s been banned from the furniture but we’d really prefer to sort the behaviour properly rather than manage it by pussy footing around the pup.
TIA for any suggestions or guidance.

I had the same issue with my girl. They are strong willed and extremely stubborn. When I first started pinning her, she would fight with everything she had to get out of the position. It took everything I had, but I followed through each time and held her in the position until she would relax. The longest I held her down was for 20 mins, lol. She learned after a few attempts that fighting didn't work and she would submit quickly. I also taught her to get into the "pinning" position without me physically touching her. I hope that helps you and your boy, best wishes!

He seems to be responding well to being put in his crate as soon as he attempts to growl and he’s becoming more relaxed with me approaching him when he’s near the wife. I’m assuming (hoping) he’s intelligent enough that he’s actively avoiding that behaviour as he hates it when he’s being ignored
