Allergies

Hello bully lovers, i have 1y and 3 month bull terrier male, he start to exhibit itchy chin 1,5 month ago and from there all the fun started. He had red bumps, very itchy ones on his chin, those where filled with blood and puss, later on when i change food(from raw pork) to dry canin caviar lamb food he started to experience red bumps on his head, under neck, legs. To him to vet and got steroid injection cos itchiness was unbearable. All came down but some face itching left, after 1,5 weeks muzzle itching came back. Sometime he get sore red patches on his muzzle witch makes him very itchy, now he is on analergic royal canin dry food(elimination diet). Maybe some one from you experience something like this?
Sometimes he shakes his ears, sometimes bites his tail but not to a crazy extend like muzzle.
He is booked to derm appointment on 25th.

Hello sorry to hear your boy is suffering.
Most of us struggle to find the culprit causing these outbursts in our boys.
Can you think of anything different at time of chin becoming red//itchy? I gather you scrutinised diet changes if any, at the time.
Plants is another one which is very difficult too or indoor culprits ie: cleaning products/carpet/laundry detergent change etc etc.?
I’d say an allergy test will be valuable for him if you cannot locate the culprit as medication will not be the long term answer unfortunately. If you can get nuvet like advised on the site it would be beneficial. I cannot get it here in AU so I have alternative natural supplements but am still trying to work out my boys triggers presently. At least he isn’t bleeding, itching or uncomfortable and is happy.
Going through diet changes takes time and is tricky when you haven’t had an allergy test done to rule out the main triggers but if he was ok before this time in his existing diet you’ll have to think harder at the time it started as it may be an external trigger unless they changed something from the manufacturer side or if you always got his food from the same provider (raw-butcher) ask them perhaps if any preservatives/additives etc.
I wish you well keep us updated too.
Oh I put a capful ov colloidal silver in my boys water bowl and spray some on their wounds etc. Has the water changed by chance? There are many tricky things to think about but our bullies really need to have A1 immunity to ward off what comes their way lol
  • He is pedigree dog, almost all his litter have some sort of skin issues
Nothing has changed what i can remember, just suddenly one day he was itchy.
We are all tired from this situation, cos its constant watch where he is going and doing, cos he now hides to scratch its so frustrating ????????‍♀️

I know too! Watching and telling them to stop licking, biting....they know too and feel guilty poor boys. You will work it out hopefully sooner than later. I finally discovered what triggered my Moose with seizures, which was too much vitamin A (offal) but this too took ages to solve. Hang in there and I hope for good news for you. Maybe someone else may have some solutions and there is a lot to read on this site :)

Your best treatment would be to concentrate on the immune system. With a strong and healthy immune system your Bullie will combat allergies that cause skin issues. I have dealt with many rescues that had horrible skin issues and allergies. The "NuVet" supplement is the best thing I have found to boast immune system and prevent skin issues. It works!
