Seeking Advice for 7MO Male BT
First off, wanted to say we've been lurking here ever since we got our Bull Terrier and love all the great advice everyone has here!
Our 7 month old BT is generally very good, properly potty trained, crate trained, and otherwise a delight besides his incessant biting.
Just some background on him:
He is not high energy at all, but we do take him for at least 2-3, 15-20 minute walks a day that are approx a half a mile each, along with some free time (approx 1-2 hours a day) in a sectioned area of the house where he is collared, but otherwise can go about being himself when not in the crate. He is wiped out after his walks and when he plays by himself outside of the crate. He is not food motivated in the slightest either which has made his training pretty challenging. He's not mastered them yet, but he knows the basics (sit, stay, down, here, etc) but recall is the toughest.
Almost every time we take him out, he is collared and he's only ever known to be "with" us, but he just constantly wants to bite us and he bites hard. The yelping like a puppy, pinning, and other techniques people have described, do not work and he just doesn't seem to care at all in slightest! Pinning works in the sense that it gets him to stop, but it's because we force him to. After he's pinned, he gets a firm no and he get's put in his crate for a timeout, then rinse and repeat if he does it again. He's definitely not attacking us either and strongly believe it's just him wanting to play.
Any advice on what to do next? Do we up his activity level? Is this just an adolescent phase thing that he'll grow out of?
Thanks in advance!
