Omg Tina Moose had a spasm this morning on my way back from our walk....gee I was hoping it would just disappear with his improvement of health with his supplements but no gotta go to the vet He came good after a few minutes and was running round as usual on the beach but I’ve waited long enough now even though they don’t surface as often which is some good news. I jinxed myself yesterday with his health but I’m positive we’ll get over this setback too. Take care of yourself and Billie
Hi Girls, poor Billie. I thank the heavens that Scarlett has no health issues to speak of. She's 8 months old now, Loves chewing on tree branches (sticks) & eats a bug or two while she's roaming the back yard in this heat. Moose looks like a good boy doing his thing! Scarlett's is now starting to be protective of our home, but when we're outside in the yard, she still loves anyone who comes & says hello to her. My lil girl!
So fortunate Dan ....no health concerns I got through five kids with no allergies but Moose came to me to challenge the Mumma within and I’m taking on this challenging boy but Memphis is an A1 pup such a joyful 2IC bro loves retrieving a stick from the water, can swim no probs but Moose goes on his terms.....stubborn bully...but give them a branch, grass reed hanging around the beach, dangle it high and they’re hypnotised I can have these two jumping for it all the way home but I know I wouldn’t make it if I kept it up, it is a workout for them and I gotta watch my head lol, Moose surpasses my height Moose is always on guard duty home and out, on his terms will he want to engage in play otherwise happy exploring sniffing (male thing) but Memphis loves to get a pat from people. Moose gets one unintentionally from dog walkers if they’re lucky. Memphis will be 9 months on 9th June and Moose is 16months. Gee time flies Dan. We can all say this look into a play pool for the yard or better still sprinkler/hose but not to chew lol
Oh no Sarah, I hope the vet is able figure out what the spasms are from and how to treat it. I'm glad that you guys are having fun at the beach even though its cold. I wish it was cold here, but it's been so hot and sunny.
Dan, I'm glad to hear Scarlett is doing well and yes, it's definitely a blessing that she doesn't have any allergy issues.
Billie's paws are getting better. The treatments, benadryl and shoes are helping her paws heal. She's such a good sport about it all and is still happy
Right on Dan Run the hose in it gently at first to create the bubble effect to see if she likes it....dunno if there’s a safe dog bubble bath soap for extra fun maybe google that one a DiY cheap alternative. Have fun cooling down guys and prepare to get wet
It’s cold here but it doesn’t stop Memphis from going for a swim lol He follows a stick anywhere and takes it to the water to escape from Moose’ pinching it off him
Found some pics of little Moose enjoying the beach in the early days
Awww Tina you’re such a good girl looking after her with all her ‘get go’ on. I couldn’t do that...that’s so much effort and with the beach boys it wouldn’t work lol Memphis is always in the water even in the cold ???? And that ‘I’m still snoozing’ pic how can you shift her...they love to snuggle up. Memphis has discovered under the doonah is so much warmer lol I went to the vet with moose to get the rundown on his spasms. Like I knew, isn’t severe enough to warrant investigation. He comes good afterwards and looks well on inspection. Bloods and urine all ok. I will investigate CBD oil for him. I did get his desexing delayed till he is two at least and will only do this if it medically warrants it being done. Wish me luck with getting Moose clear of spasms....another challenge for mumma me
HI Sarah, Im sorry the vet couldn't give you solid answers, but im glad that his lab work came out good. I hope the CBD oil works for Moose i didn't start dressing Billie until I found out she has bad allergies. It is extra time putting her clothes and gear on, but I got it down pretty fast and Billie is really good about it. She's the "best dressed" girl around here, lol Ive been putting Billie's spay surgery off too. Ill probably take her in after her 2nd heat cycle. Gives me anxiety thinking about her going into surgery and post op care. Her skin is so sensitive and I'm just worried about complications and such, but I'm not going to think about it until it's time for the surgery. I hope you and the boys have a great day
Thankyou Tina and yes I’m sure she is the best dressed and your not far behind
The cbd oil isn’t so easy to get but I’ve found a co. the vet would have to go through..waiting on $$$ approx. to go down this path. Whilst reading up on seizures you second guess vaccinations, flea treatments etc. as they all have adverse reactions and I wonder if this is how Moose reacted. I’m so disappointed I didn’t look into this earlier. You just follow up with this routine like everyone else but Moose being so sensitive I wouldn’t put it pass him he had a reaction. Anyway I will try to manage it as best as I can. I will still await advice from iloveadog owner also. Enjoy your sunshine and Billie of course
Thanks Sarah! You're doing awesome with Moose and his needs. It's hard and painful to watch your fur baby suffer from health issues and can be very frustrating, but Moose's health is getting so much better bc of your love and care for him. I can tell you're diligent and I'm sure you'll find just the right combination of methods to relieve his issues. I hope you and the boys have a great weekend
Hey Tina Had a great day except on my way back home got talking to a regular dog walker, we chatted it was busy with others along the path.....and then came along a very excitable pup retriever and Moose went aggressive towards him i got tangled with my boys fell arse over and was so embarrassed I lost control not that I landed so ridiculous but how my Moose behaved OMG there’s no way I can hold him when it happens so unexpected and it’s always when you’re distracted lol I was so mad, I stepped full on his back paw which did bleed but I couldn’t help it. I think I have to be aware of my surroundings more unfortunately but it’s hard when you like to chat and we had no problems with his dog. I think moose got protective and this is the age where dominance surfaces. Scary stuff and it gives moose a bad look but otherwise we had a good off leash controlled run....no problems with listening as I have my distraction methods at hand. I don’t think you’ve experienced this with Billie but you mentioned once she stood her ground with another dog. I think that was different, Moose lunged towards the pup aggressively and not nice at al God knows what others are thinking now but I have to keep firm with him and prepare for the unexpected and know the dogs that tick him off so to speak. I hope and know Billie is a good girl for you
Omg, that must of been nerve racking to say the least! I'm glad everyone's ok though. Billie has gotten super aggressive and lounged toward a couple dogs before, but she's only done that when the other dog is aggressive towards her. It's really hard to control when their fight mode is heightened and they're in that frame of mind. I usually give her a hard correction and then remove her from the situation fast....enough distance from the other dog and then I have her lay on her side to calm her. I also walk by houses with other dogs where Billie gets riled up and practice with her to stay focused and calm and correct when needed. She's getting a lot better, thank God bc she's so damn strong and hard to physically handle when she is in the red zone. I hope you're nerves are settled and your next walk/outing is nice and smooth
Hello Tina Hope you’re good today Moose had a spasm this morning poor boy. I found a CBD OIL supplier her so all I need is a vet prescription which I’m waiting on. Then I’ll know the costs/volume/dosage etc. and hope it’s affordable to begin and hope for no adverse reaction also. No dramas today with my boys it’s great to hear that moose’ reaction is something I will have to be very firm and disciplined with lol like you are with Billie....you must be doing a fantastic job with her thumbs up to you! We’re in lockdown here but the weathers been lovely and soon changing to wet days though. I don’t mind less people. Take care all
Hi Sarah, I'm so sorry to hear Moose had another spasm...I hope the CBD works for him We had a lock down last year and I remember it was an eerie feeling, but I'm sure the boys are keeping you good company
Another episode Tina he suffered this time layed down completely poor Moose Cbd came this arvo starting tomorrow as he has it twice daily. Hoping for relief
How are you Tina and Billie? I hope everything is well and that Billie has no issues presently. Moose had not had a seizure/spasm since I last wrote so this is reassuring but he doesn’t like taking the medicine lol I totally understand and when he starts to lick his paw I say ‘moose...gonna get the che che che’ which is my interpretation of the spray bottle with CS and he knows what I’m talking about. Can you just see me saying that Tina It’s WILD weather here, wind n rain forecast for the three days. I still hope I can get a walk in somewhere wish me luck otherwise I’ll have two frustrated cheeky rascals tomorrow Take care
Hi Sarah, Thats great to hear that Moose hasn't had any spasms since LOL, I use a spray bottle for Billie too- I have 4 bottles spread out throughout the house. Billie had an incident the other day...we were at a light and she saw her beagle friend across the street and got excited and then a skateboarder rode by us really fast and there was so much excitement and fear she redirected her energy onto me and bit my arm! Omg, it happened so fast! I quickly snapped her leash back and gave her a firm hand to her nose. She knew she messed up and got submissive immediately. My feelings got so butt hurt! I read up on some things I can do to prevent it from happening again. Needless to say, we made up that night and she's been her sweet and happy self since then. I love the pictures of Moose and Memphis cuddling on the couch, its the cutest and sweetest thing ever :x
Hello Tina Sorry it took me awhile, rushing and upload issues lol How’s your arm today, I hope it wasn’t too bad Ahh those moments your heart races for yourself and Billie it happens so quick and I don’t think with all our good obedience, vigilance etc that we can avoid some altercations along the path of raising our bullies. Being realistic, we are human and they are dogs and therefore trying to for see all the things, sounds, impromptu situations that can occur; we are asking a dam lot of ourselves. But we do learn from these moments and hope for minimal surprises in the home and out. It’s a big world and we cannot anticipate everything but do our best to control the situation on hand. Please don’t be too hard on yourself and Billie but it is great you always try to have the upper hand if ever it occurs again. Just when you think you’ve heard or seen most things along your walk...well....you should’ve heard what loud ‘clomping sound’ was coming along the boardwalk the other day!!! Boys were alert, we saw some kids on scooters check, then the father I think, comes along on those blade contraptions on his legs idk if it’s the latest craze or if it was an aid of some sort but he looked so tall and my boys got scared so I headed to the beach. Then, low and behold the sound starts coming back and he ventured onto the pier clomping ever so loudly I quickly took my boys further down the beach. Now how can you anticipate that happening on your outdoor exercise lol just had to share there’s always a first time for everything! We had a good afternoon walk when it wasn’t raining today so they are content. Thankyou for the lovely pics of Billie...she loves to get pics taken I see
Hi Sarah, my arm is ok, thank you for asking We are good and I have to remember she's still a puppy and is learning I'm glad that Moose is feeling good and he hasn't had any spasms! I hope the weather gets better for you guys
Spoke too soon Tina We had a great energetic wet play run jump at the beach until yes another one I know it’ll take time but it’s so disappointing when we’re having fun. I’m glad your arm is ok and yes they are puppies learning with us xx Thankyou for your comments
I'm so sorry to hear Sarah...I know that vitamins and supplements do take some time to kick into the system. Hopefully, the episodes will be less and over time, will stop all together. I hope the boys are keeping you good company and you're all having a good week
Thankyou Tina Moose still had episode today I think it’s a matter of getting to the right dose, increasing every 3/4 days atm so fingers crossed he gets some relief soon. Very windy n wild down here but we have a ball the same xx take care A pic to make you giggle
Oh my goodness Sarah, that's a really cute and funny pic! They're both under the blanket :x I love how they always are sleeping next to/on each other I hope the CBD kicks in soon for Moose!
Hi Sarah, thats good to hear I Love the pic at the beach-I'm going to guess that's Memphis? I was looking through my photo gallery on my phone yesterday and 90% of the pics are of Billie, haha. I take at least 3-5 pics of her everyday, lol
Memphis has the stick Tina, moose is the smiley one....and I get them mixed up when not looking properly Yes the phone is all bully’s and I have kids big and young lol Hope your arm is ok now too xx
