Tips for puppy weight gain?

Hello! New member here. I’ve been an avid viewer of the discussions here but only recently became a member. I have a 10 month old female and just got an 8 week old male. He is so tiny, only 5 lbs. I believe the breeder we got him from wasn’t caring for him properly I really want to give him the nutrition he needs but I’m not sure when I can begin feeding him raw food. Or what other supplements I can give him. He tries to suckle on my female so I’m thinking he still wants milk and he could probably benefit from the fat in it. I currently give my 10 month old instinct dry food with boiled sweet potatoes and ground chicken cooked in coconut oil. She didn’t do well with raw meat when I tried it a couple months ago. For reference, my girl was 12 lbs at 8 weeks and is currently 50 lbs at 10 months. I would like to get my male on the same track! Any advice welcome thank you!! Unfortunately we found some discrepancies in the papers given to us by the “breeder”. And I believe Jax is younger than 8 weeks according to our vet. Seems like they were out for money and didn’t put the work in to raise quality pups. I’m glad to have found Jax because I don’t know how well he would have done if he’d stayed with them..

You will find a big change in the weights of other EBT's. If it were me, I would feed him a good quality grain free puppy diet. Then I would let him settle into it a little. I did this with both of mine. They both topped out at 50 pounds and 60 pounds at a little over 2 years. You will be able to see if you diet is working, he will begin to look a lot less lanky in about 4 to 6 weeks. Play it by ear, listen to your vet and don't force the weight on them. Let them grow and put on wieght while following a good diet plan. All EBT's have different body types. Yours will have it's own, as long as you are keeping an eye on progress and let the puppy grow at its own pace. You will see him or her develop into a proper adult. Cute kids you have.

Thank you guys! @that1Boomer @BulliesofNC Jax is doing a lot better this week. Took him to the vet and he ended up having worms which would explain his inability to gain weight. We got that taken care of and so far he has gained 3 lbs and loves the instinct food we’ve been giving Kai. Not sure he’s ready for the raw food recipes yet but I’m going to just give him some time and see how he does. @that1Boomer you’re so right, they all grow differently I guess I was just so used to have a chubby little pup with my girl and I was being a concerned momma. So far so good, and my furbabes are getting along well!
