Heat and thick discharge

Hello Everyone,
I have a young miniature BT called Umbra and she turned 6 months 2 weeks ago.
Except for the usual BT stubbornness which at times drives me crazy lol (and I shall need your advice in a different thread) I am keen to hear your POVs on a health-related matter (or two):
1. her coming heat and
2. the fact that there's some thick, pale yellow discharge coming out of her

1. last weekend we were at the park and it's the first time I saw males getting aroused around her, which tells me her period is coming - however, being so young I am a bit surprised. Yes, I read this post http://www.bullterrierfun.com/dog-heat-cycle/ but it's not clear to me whether or not 6 months is not too early for her to be having her first heat. Also, if males are aroused around her this means she's in the Proestrus stage??

2. since some time (a month or longer) I noticed a thick, yellow discharge coming out of her vagina. A drop which usually hangs out because it's too thick to actually .. drop. I asked the vet and she said not to worry about it unless this turns into a much bigger discharge where she actually get's 'dirty' with this discharge.

Since yesterday I see a little more of this discharge, maybe 2-3 drops and I am not sure if this is related to her heat or what's going on there.

It's worth to mention that since this morning when she woke up, her eyes were a bit dirty of some discharge (not sure what's the English word for that, English is not my mother tongue, apologies for that). Does this mean she has a cold or something like that?

Thank you so much in advance
Alex & Umbra

In the past with our last EBT. Her discharge was the same way until her second cycle. Then it was not as bad. I would think if there was a larger amount and sticking to her fur around that area, then I would be more concerned. The eye discharge could be a number of things, one is a cold as you already know and the fact that she is having a heat cycle could be another. They have many changes going on at heat. Same as humans. I use a warm damp towel or a heated up baby wipe to clean the eyes and just keep an eye out for sneezing or coughing. Anything out of the ordinary. Go see the vet. If you are not happy with the outcome at the vet, get a second opinion. It never hurts. You are most likely just over reacting to new things with your girl, these are strange times for her and you will start to understand it a little more once you deal with it a few times. No harm in getting opinions and answers.

Sounds like she may have an infection. At 6 months old there shouldn't be any thick discharge like you're seeing. Unless a female recently gave birth you shouldn't see discharge like that ever. I would have her looked at by a Vet to ensure she doesn't have an infection.
