Suddenly Aggressive with Older Dog
PANZERIA
Alberta, Canada
My 1 y/o neutered male EBT has suddenly started attacking my 10 y/o neutered male german shepherd. They used to play together all the time when my EBT was a puppy, but then he hit adolescence and my GSD just doesn’t want to play rough with him.
Lately, my EBT has started attacking my GSD. Like, viscously. He has left marks and punctured my shepherd’s ear.
I feel so bad for my GSD as he is now stressed around our bully. Will this eventually get better as he goes through puberty? Is it possible for them to get along eventually, or will my bully keep going after my GSD? We’re working with a trainer to teach our EBT boundaries and manners, but I’m worried that we didn’t crack down on it in time.
We also have a newborn in the house, and I’m scared that the EBT might turn his aggression on the baby.

You need to put an immediate end to it.
Whether that's between the 4 legged group or the 2 legged group.
I have 2 male ebt's. The younger is naturally an alpha and the older is a potatoe.
At around 1 year, I had to let the puppy know, and then several times since I had to put my foot down and let it be known that dominance over any family member would not be tolerated.
If addressed early and often everything will naturally fall into place over time, but consistency is key.
Look up the poster djammy on this sight.
She is a wealth of info on training ECT. It would greatly benefit all 1st timers and others on training, nutrion ECT.
Now like people, everybody has different carrots and switches, slight modifications to suggestions may be necessary.
But you need to do something now, and be consistant for ever.
If the older dog is stressing out it could lead to other adverse situtations that I'm sure you want to avoid.
I went through the same thing, and with persistance now my guys are inseparable.
