Help with ear situation

Good evening everyone,

I taped my EBT ears about 3 weeks ago. When the tape came off, his left ear was doing great but the right one was falling to the side towards the left ear. I decided to tape again at the beginning of this week and I just removed the tape and now the left ear went completely floppy and forward... (The right one now is perfect).
I used the technique in the video posted plus the gelatine. He has sores in each sides due to scratching when taped. I also found some blood inside the ear after removing the the tampon covers. I'm wondering if maybe the ear that used to be doing great went floppy due to him feeling pain?
Please if anyone has had this issue..any advice is greatly appreciate it! Thank you for all the informative discussions!

He is currently 17 weeks. The picture of his face is from the end of last week.. the whole body pic is from today.

At 17 weeks old BT Puppies can be relentless with scratching when tap training the ears. You may want to resort to using a head cone to prevent the scratching and self injury he could be causing. With some Bull Terriers with bigger ears it takes some time and effort to get the ears to stand correctly. Don't give up, it'll be better for him in the long run to have both ears standing correctly.

  • My pups ears were (are) HUGE. I started taping around 5 months. The cone got torn to pieces. Lol he was relentless and I only taped them when I was home as he ALWAYS got it off and ate it. I never used tampons. Didn't work for me personally. And had to use stronger tape (yes his fur grew back and I was super gentle taking it off). I taped from the base all the way to the top. Then made like a "strap" around one ear, under the chin, then around the other ear (a German shepherd trainer said to try it because thats how he does it) then I added another strip to secure the ears "together" in the center. He got the idea I wasnt going to let up and decided to back off of scratching it once it got hard to take off because of the better tape job (this happened around week 3 of taping lol. Plenty of rolls of tape later). I gave him calcium supplements and cottage cheese. A tsp at each meal.
Hope your puppers gets his ears under control!! And yes! His droop if they have a cut or anything on them!
