Hi friends. We are newbies to this forum. Our boy is Roscoe and he is 2.5 years old. We love him! He’s awesome with our kiddos ( we have 5 ), but is terrible around other dogs. He has lots of energy but it comes in spurts. Would love some tips on training him to be more social because I would love to walk him in public and show him off. Right now, we walk him early in the morning or at night to avoid any confrontation. He’s super smart and so funny. He’s a riot!! Anyhow, so excited to find this forum. Lots of useful information.

He needs to be socialized and it's important to find other dogs with the personality and temperament that will condone the puppy antics of a Bull Terrier. If he is showing aggression with other dogs you may need to muzzle him while training him to ensure he doesn't initiate a fight.
Some Bull Terriers can be aggressive with other dogs which is why choosing a puppy from a good bloodline is very important. Many Bull Terriers pass down negative traits from their parents who may not exactly have been bred by responsible breeders.

We have tried to socialize him several times with a muzzle, within minutes he’s going after the other dog. It’s like he goes away for a minute. Thank goodness for a durable harness. I’ve been watching some videos on distraction training, so I’m going to start working on that with him. We may need to bring a professional in. Lol.

There's nothing harder than training aggression out of a Bull Terrier. The success rate is minimal. I wish you luck. Again, if you really want to know what to expect simply contact your breeder and tell them you want to visit for a play date with Sire and Dam. Chances are that's impossible.
